I don't want any of that. I want beautiful, experimental folk-rock music with a jazzy, bluesy, gospelly edge, a gravelly yet skilled vocalist, with lyrics that aren't contrived or cliche-ridden, that paint sorrowful, sincere pictures. I want the melodies to wrench my heart and I want the production to be both warm and comforting. I want the prettiest dirtiness, and I don't want it to be young and 'indie'. I want it to be honest, nostalgic, mature, serious, realistic, hopeful, hopeless, and emotionally impacting.
I basically just wish Tom Waits would release fifty new albums.
