I think my love for things and hatred for other things equals out evenly.

I thing I hate more things than I love, but I love the things I love more than I hate the things I hate, except for a few exceptions.

I don't know if I hate anything, but I like some things a lot less than other things.

I don't want any of that. I want beautiful, experimental folk-rock music with a jazzy, bluesy, gospelly edge, a gravelly yet skilled vocalist, with lyrics that aren't contrived or cliche-ridden, that paint sorrowful, sincere pictures. I want the melodies to wrench my heart and I want the production to be both warm and comforting. I want the prettiest dirtiness, and I don't want it to be young and 'indie'. I want it to be honest, nostalgic, mature, serious, realistic, hopeful, hopeless, and emotionally impacting.

I basically just wish Tom Waits would release fifty new albums.

It almost sounds like you are describing Munly's stuff.

"Munly"? I want the mixes to be full and cozy. I want the songs to be the opposite of cheesy. I want.... sigh.

Jay Munly, but he's alt-country, not folk.
