I'm with you on flip-flops, they're evil (like vegetarianism), and messy too.  Sandals on the other hand, the real leather Roman ones, are pretty nice ...I don't own a pair, but they're nice.

I do wear flip-flops, but wouldn't be caught dead walking in sandals outside.
