The mellotron on Entangled gives me goosebumps - and that´s about the highest recommendation music can get from me.

50/50 chance on this one. Prior to listening to these songs I am not sure that I remember what either song is.
Eleventh Earl of Mar - definitely Phil on vocals on this one. I don't know my Scottish history very well (not at all in fact) but I always like songs based on real historical events/characters so that is a plus in my book. However, like with many Genesis songs I need an interpreter to convert their story from English to American so that I might try and understand what they are singing about. I like the music on this one. I also like the deeper voice that sings small bits of the song. Not sure if this is Rutherford or Phil singing in a deeper voice, but I think it is Mike.
Entangled - I really love Hackett's acoustic playing on this one; and some nice mellotron playing in the 2nd half. Kind of an eery sounding song but definitely one that I remember from prior Genesis listens.
Bonus E: Evidence of Autumn - from the Archive #2. A nice love song or more specifically a nice memory of love after a breakup song.
This is kind of a tough one. Entangled has had the greater impact on my memory from prior listens. More is going on musically in Eleventh Earl of Mar, but I think that I shall vote for Entangled for its psychological effect.

Both excellent songs. Long ago, "Entangled" would have won easily. But in recent years, I've really come to love "Earl of Mar" even more... so that's where I'll vote.

Eleventh Earl of Mar to me is a great way to open W&W and is better than Entangled even though they are two very different songs

Eleventh Earl Of Mar for me although the synthesizer and mellotron ending that Tony does on Entangled is completely sublime and beautiful.

W&W is Genesis' best, and if you disagree with me it's because you're a neo-progger whose opinions are invalid. |
That's awesome!!! What the hell is a neo-progger?
I voted Entangled.
