I kinda like your list Juan. Heavy on the Lamb, my fav, and not ashamed of Abacab. I would have swapped Suppers Ready with Epping Forest however. Suppers is slow simple and sluggish to me. Epping took a while and some nice noise cancelling headphones, but I'm still waiting for that aha moment with Suppers...

@hobocamp: I'm not a fan of the studio version of Suppers Ready. I prefer the live version with Phil Collins on vocals from Seconds Out. It is way better than the Peter Gabriel performance. Maybe you will have the "aha-moment" with this version :-)

Funny you should mention it Juan. I'm a huge Gabriel fan but the vocals on Suppers Ready are not very good. There's even a video about why they are poorly sung. He wasn't using his diaphragm as the MILF in this video clearly explains.

I think a better thread would be, "what is your worst Genesis song before 'Duke.'"

Most real Genesis fans still like And Then There Were Three."

Which, I think is a tough question.  Mine would probably be "Knife" because of the violent
lyrics, although it has a good melody and song structure.   I also like the band
Soulfly but also don't like some of their lyrics and I have the version of the Primitive
album with the &*#(%# words silenced (didn't buy it that way on purpose, it was serendipitously found).

Now what's wrong with violent lyrics it's what makes a song interesting like the knife is a song I highly acknowledge in genesis's catalog

lol you know nothing about my musical taste.

Bad music is bad music regardless of which of them sings it.  But Invisible Touch is on a whole new level.

Worst... least favorite song on each Genesis album, IMHO (there are very few Genesis songs I hate)

Trespass: "Looking for Someone"
Nursery Cryme: "Harlequin"
Foxtrot: "Time Table"
Selling England: "More Fool Me"
Lamb Lies Down on Broadway: "Riding the Scree"
Trick of the Tail: "Robbery, Assault and Battery"
Wind and Wuthering: "Your Own Special Way"
ATTW3: "Down and Out"
Duke: "Behind the Lines"
Abacab: "Who Dunnit?"
Genesis:  "Silver Rainbow"
Invisible Touch: "Tonight, Tonight, Tonight"
We Can't Dance: "Never a Time"
Calling All Stations: "Small Talk"

"The Battle of Epping Forest", without question. Twelve minutes of meandering tripe. 1/5 of an album. Think of all the poor little vinyls that had to be sacrificed for that waste of space.
...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

@catfood: Only one song from each album?

But why do you hate, or why is Down and Out not a favourite for the most Genesis listeners?
I really really like this song with its uptempo, main riff, odd times, the agressive vocals, the doodle-keyboard parts etc. It reminds me of early prog metal songs in the 80ies. The ATTWT is not really good, but IMO Down and out is the best track from this album.

Like I said there's not many Genesis songs I hate. Ok, so Like It Or Not could have joined Who Dunnit? for least favorite for Abacab for example, but I like it just slightly more than the latter.

When I consider all the songs from ATTW3 this one just isn't as good as the others.  For me its musical progression  from verse to chorus feels a bit too awkward and the entire song is a bit noisy, my favorite part of the song is the intro where Mike's guitar comes in.

But you have Burning Rope, The Lady Lies, and Deep In the Motherlode as "bad" songs on your list. Those are my favorites!

We do agree that ATTW3 is not one of the bands best, perhaps someday I'll rank the albums, but that's for another thread. These Genesis threads don't come around that often, y'know! Wink

MILF?
I wouldn't do her if you paid me.....well perhaps 10K, then I'd think about it.....

Suppers Ready is an absolute CLASSIC and probably influenced more of the prog - 1980-the present day than most other tracks in the progressive era....
It suffers from you young-uns listening to the super-slick modern recording studio productions and then listening to the some-what dated sound equipment of the seventies.
It's like comparing modern CGI with the original King-Kong.....
If somebody re-recorded SR - it would be AWESOME!
