All of the games I ever really want to play are old.

I also don't like the way video game companies are doing gamers. I bought Empire: Total War (the Total War series I love), but didn't realize I had to register with Steam, which makes the game practically impossible to sell because the software is now tied to an account. However, the game wouldn't work with my video card, so I couldn't even play it. I can't even give it away as a gift! ![]() |

I've also been playing a ton of Rome: Total War lately, great game although I'd forgotten how hard it was to get in to. Some companies/DRM totally f**k the paying customer over. Steam is kinda bad in some ways, but since I only really buy during sales it doesn't bother me and their DRM is fairly non-invasive IMO.Also, gog.com is the site for old games. All DRM free, for 2-3 dollars. Also also, new games are literally 110$ here for consoles, so digital distribution can ease that pain.

That sounds sucky. I really liked how simple the whole gaming process was back in the '90s and early '00s.

gog.com sounds like another website I'll have to check out, but I usually only use a SNES and NES emulator.

That's right! 1. Stick in the cartridge. 2. Push power. 3. Play! Oh wait- blue screen. 4. Pull cartridge out. 5. Blow into it. 6. Stick in the cartridge. 7. Push power. 8. Damn it! 9. Pull cartridge out. 10. Blow in it some more. 11. Strike the side with the palm of your hand a few times. 12. Stick in the cartridge. 13. Push power. 14. RAAAAAAAAAGE 15. Pull cartridge out. 16. Blow like the big bad wolf 17. Get your mom to swab the inside of the cartridge with rubbing alcohol. 18. Blow it dry. 19. Stick cartridge in. 20. Push power. 21. Go outside and play. |

Was it just me, or was/is there a super distinct smell that came out of N64 cartridges when you blew into them?

Yeah, it's still a great game, but the level scaling/some of the animations stick out like a sore thumb now.
Skyrim is pretty much gonna consume my entire life, though. I've actually reinstalled about 9 or 10 older games these last few weeks. Good times, good nostalgia.

Exactly! That's where some aspects of Fallout 3 have improved, graphics, and the leveling system i enjoy as well. Though i haven't compared the two in detail. Also Skyrim is going to be so embarrassing for me to play, seeing i'll be on it 24/7. |

Rob, you would be proud of me. Unfortunately, the forum where I'm debating doesn't allow viewing unless you register.

I mostly agree with what you're saying over there. That alonzo fellow isn't really paying attention. Also refusing to believe something =/= it isn't real. |
