Hello everyone I'm new here. Here is my first recording of my band Electric Hobo. We play hobo-themed prog rock.
Please give me some feedback and tell me what you think. If you like please sub to my youtube, I look forward to posting here. ~Mega |

Must be nice having your brother(?) play with you.
Vocals need some work and could be louder, and the drums could be more interesting.
Sound in general is clean. Guitar work is good. Edited by Horizons - July 03 2011 at 12:30 |

Thanks for listening. Yeah he is my brother, he has only been playing drums for a year and he is quite good for that time-frame. He is getting better all the time too, Mike Portnoy is his hero. He seems to pick up pretty much all instruments pretty well. I enjoy playing and bouncing Ideas off of him. I agree in some of the parts I should have turned up the vocals a bit, I'm pretty new at this singing stuff though. I recorded it up on Audacity with a Tascam US-800. Any good software you could recommend? I tried Cubase and blah, it was horrible. |

I've tried several programs (and even had a TASCAM 4-track tape recorder at one point). I currently use (and enjoy) Sony Acid. I'd recommend that.

Very cool! And yes for 1 year, he is having great progress. Just making sure it's interesting. |

I might just give it a listen. About the Sony Acid, does the basic version support multi-tracking and VST? Also, I've seen Reaper which looks fairly good. How does that hold up for 50$?
Thanks! Yeah I just can't get the feel for drums myself, I can fake it Meg White style a little bit. The only problem with my brother is he is a bit overzealous with the double bass sometimes. |

Yes and yes. You can get Sony Acid Music Studio 8.0 for $41.10 with free shipping from Amazon. Edit: There's a comparison chart here. There's a free version of Acid also, evidently. I have no experience with Reaper. Edited by Epignosis - July 03 2011 at 14:07 |

I have a Tascam interface too and I must agree that Cubase is awful.
The best I've used is Adobe Audition, which IIRC is pretty expensive. Edited by Triceratopsoil - July 03 2011 at 16:12 |

Haha I was all excited when I got Cubase, but after a few hours of frustration I gave up and went back to Audacity which works well. I'm pretty handy with a computer too, but it was just a horrible program to use. A friend of mine recommended Adobe Audition 1.5 which is ebayable for about 50$. Reaper has a trial, so I might see if I like it. If not I'll go with Acid. |
