Are you listening to Tool now?

For boredom, I'd recommend Frogg Cafe. It's helping me. Smile

Man, this band is so awesome.
Welcome to the Cafe.

Scott, you're a fan, is that live album of their's good?
Which one?  On The Lillypad?  I've downloaded it, but not listened to it yet. Embarrassed

I was actually talking about The Safenzee Diaries, I've never heard of On The Lilypad. Shocked

I've listened to The Safenzee Diaries a couple of times.  It is quite good.  I had downloaded that one from eMusic back when I used to have an annual membership there.

Gramps was just here; as we talked about music he said they don't make music like in the old days. He changed his mind after I introduced him to Zorn's Masada, Cosa Brava and Joanna Newsom.

Back to Abel's Collages for one second, I kind of wonder how this same logic of thinking applies to PA, MMA, and JMA.  Afterall, we use images of the album covers for each of the albums and pictures of the artists on each artist's page.   In essence, this site offers free marketing to each of the music artists, but not to the album cover artists, as there is no reference to who the album cover artist is on the album pages.  I wonder to what extent that the album cover artists could come after M@x for using their images without permission.

Bosses don't like people quoting lyrics in the forum, so I wonder what the legalities are regarding album artwork, but I never ask because I don't want to see a crackdown on that.

I guess they could make a case if they really wanted to, but really, no one is making money directly because the album art is featured here, as is the case of the collage - a database is a different beast.  If you think about it, places like RYM would have the same issue if it were really a problem.

I actually do assume sites like Amazon selling the actual albums have all the appropriate permissions, but I don't know for sure.
I think the album covers on the album pages would fall under fair use for criticism/discussion/education. Wikipedia asserts fair use under those guidelines for all of their album cover uploads, and nobody's bothered them about permission yet. They only got in trouble under the Cleanfeed filter for hosting that pedophile Scorpions album cover, but that was reversed after a few months.

I don't know about all the copyrighted images people put on their profiles in the forum, though. I doubt it's strictly allowed under DMCA, but they're not going to bother with takedown notices for that.

As far as I know the quoting lyrics is because someone threatened Max with a lawsuit because of lyrics quoted on the forum. I would say the more major concern for PA is all the streaming songs. The admins claim they have permission for everything, but I do not believe them. For one thing, Fripp gave us a takedown notice. For another, Pink Floyd was fighting with the label over selling their music digitally, there is no way they gave us permission to stream all of Echoes, SOYCD, Dogs, Comfortably Numb, Time, and 10 other songs for free. Also, the copyrighted images in the header definitely do not have permission because Abel made them and he does not have permission for anything.

And yes, I just spent like half an hour finding links to piss off ACR in his chain mail thread.
if you own a sodastream i hate you

He speaks Spanish natively I think, I can't remember.
Yes, he moved to the US from another country.  Spanish is his native language.  His English is a bit rough, but it is better than my Spanish, so I can't knock him.

Yeah, it's not that bad, although I have to read threw his posts carefully sometimes.

Yeah, a couple months ago, he wanted to change something with space rock and psychedelic were together on the site and the mods wouldn't change it so he started a temper tantrum and left.

He pretty much told the psych rock team their definition sucked, and wrote one without being asked, to which Dean said "very nice but nobody cares" and he got all huffy.
