Agreed! How can folks put Tommy on a higher level? To me, nary a second of the music in the original 1970 recording of JCSS goes wasted, but Tommy has the Underture, man!

I honestly do enjoy Who's Next and...uhm... one-fourth of Quadrophenia, but they're pretty low on my list. (to put it into perspective, PRINCE is higher than they are.)

While I could complain about the heinous omission of some of my favourite obscure rock operas, like Devil Doll's Dies Irae and Angizia's Das Tagebuch Der Hanna Anikin like a good prog fan, where the hell are Quadrophenia and The Wall in this list?! Srsly.

The Who bores me to death and they are talented. But if you really need to stick to your definition, then go ahead, label them talentless with my approval.

The overture is amazing, the moment the Judas theme appears is powerful, and then the Superstar theme; it actually resembles a proper overture, giving a tour of the themes to be used in the rest of the work.
Yeah man, a band I was a member of for 2 years covered Heaven on Their Minds, such fun to solo over and a very powerful song for a vocalist. I'm also very partial to Gethsemane as it brings me to tears almost every time:

As far as the above comment is concerned, I don't believe in talent that much anyway so I'll keep out of that one however I will say that I don't particular enjoy The Who either.

Good to see The Kinks made it but the rest of the list is throwaway garbage (except for maybe Ziggy Stardust, which isn't a rock opera [but The Kinks' isn't either, necessarily]). I mean, where's Quadrophenia and The Wall? The list could use an embarrassingly large amount of different material.
