How many years until Auburn is stripped of this National Championship because of Cam Newton's pay-for-play policy?  There are just too many rumors for it not to be true, and it was a bunch of BS on how the NCAA turned a blind eye to it.  "We can't punish the player because of the actions of his father".  How laughable of a decision was that?  Wasn't that the reason USC was stripped of their National Championship and Reggie Bush was stripped of his Heisman Trophy?  Weren't his parents living in a house that was provided to them by an agent?

Firstly....congrats to Auburn winning the BCS...(whatever that means).....I am more glad that the SEC is still showing they are kings of NCAA football. Having to wait over 30 days to play this game is ridiculous...it certainly showed in the 1st half.......It looked like two teams ranked in the bottom half, not #1 and #2.

The NCAA is completely at fault with this whole issue. Yes taking away Bush's title and stripping USC makes no sense when Auburn gets not even a slap on the wrist and Cam is allowed to finish the season.
NCAA admitted they had no idea if anything wrong had happened so at least they should have suspended all involved till they made a complete investigation.
The SEC is light years more powerful than the PAC10.....and much more valuable than the PAC10, so I was not surprised Auburn and Cam Newton got favorable treatment from the NCAA......that's a lot of tv contract money NCAA would have lost.

I doubt NCAA ever strip Auburn of the title or Cam's Heisman........Had this happened at Univ of Washington or Stanford or UCLA.....damn straight NCAA would have been all over these schools like gravy on rice.

The almighty $$ at work.

Standard operating procedure. Note the suspended starting quarterback for Ohio State.

Well, SEC continues to dominate. Can't say I'm shocked.

I expected Auburn to win (would've been VERY surprised if not)
Oregon has one crazy offense, but they are small.

I figured no way they'd stand up to the fast and big players of the SEC. Especially that d-line.

However, was not a defensive game. More of a not offensive one.

Seemed kinda sloppy, no rhythm. The field was in terrible shape. Really awful considering the gravity of the game.
Ah well, no way around it...SEC has been and still is the superior conference. No one can really go with em.

Oh, and besides the field one has to wonder if they can truly be at 100% given a 37 day pause before they played, as well as numerous lengthy TV commercials.

Whatever, BCS is whacked as we know anyway. Congrats to Auburn.

Yes, the BCS is broken. So it goes.

Still, Auburn could run the ball while Oregon could not. You can't reasonably attribute it to the field (which was, for the record, quite slick) or preparation (long, but same for both teams). Oregon got manhandled at the point of attack. Simple as that. Oregon, the famed 70-point offense putting up 300 yards on the ground per game, got shut down. 75 yards.

This is why we say defense win championships. It is why the SEC will continue to win them. The west coast kids keep talking about how there's no offense in the SEC, but until they can beat an SEC defense, it's all moot. Oregon can't even beat the third-worst defense in the SEC.

Maybe with a playoff, we'd see a true national championship. However, given the current system, most agree that the correct two teams were in the game.

Not that the Mountain West isn't perennially underrated. How the Big East is still AQ while the MWC is stuck fighting for at-large bids is beyond me. Guess who won the Bowl Challenge again this year?

Oh like I said, I expected Auburn to win, as they should've.
A superior team, by far.

But it did seem like a bit of a sloppy, off rhythm game.

I agree it was sloppy.......the field was a joke. And having to wait 37 days to play is also a joke. I wanted Auburn to win...but I thought Oregon had a good shot to win a title......They looked like a team that had not played in 37 days. And for sure the defense won it for Auburn....I think at end of 2Q Auburn had 16 1st downs to Oregon's 4..something like that? Grant it also that Auburn could not get it in the endzone either......the score could have been 36-19.

Bah. I get tired of this "sloppy" excuse. You know why the offense isn't in rhythm? Because the defense is ramming their faces into the grass. Pro team play every week and still don't put up 50 points per game. It's not that the offense is having trouble, it's that the defense is winning. Everyone came in expecting Oregon to put up 192837 points, and then their 300-yards-per-game got buttf**ked by the Auburn d-line. It wasn't Oregon playing "sloppy", it was Auburn manhandling the offensive line. Keep blaming the field, but Auburn put up 250 on the ground. Didn't seem to stop them.

HAHA you sound like every Penn State fan at the moment Tongue

Well indeed....goodbye Jim. One of the best coaches in OSU history and hate to say it...but he got caught with what is probably happening on 90% of all major campuses. Like it ends with him either, quite a fall man he is.
Not that he's clean, because he's absolutely not but it'd be silly to think no one else knew/was involved.

Hoping that you'll do better without Rich-Rod?

Keep in mind that this time last year, Ann Arbor was staring down some violations of its own.

Even more glad we have that dinosaur JoePa.
One thing he doesn't tolerate is this bullsh*t. Even if it's the star player, you'll get the boot.
Now I am sure players are engaging in all this stuff, but secretly. If he ever found out your ass would be out of Penn State.

So, after the abomination that was last years "National Championship" game and the abomination that was LSU at Alabama earlier tonight can Boise State get any love?

You clearly do not understand football. Hell, you're not even consistent: if you wanted all offense, you'd pick Houston -- they have #1 scoring offense in the country. Thing is, they'd put up no more points against LSU's defense than  Alabama did. It's funny how, time and time again, these "ZOMG AMAZING OFFENSE!!!1111oneoneone" have "bad games" against good defenses. Get over it: defense wins championships.

Yes I like Boise State, even if we don't understand football, coming from Pittsburgh I think we might be aware of Defenses.

Inconsistent?  I've been arguing for fairness for Boise State for years.  You're just exposing your ignorance in saying that all they are is offense every year.  Just because they aren't in the SEC doesn't mean they take off the defensive downs.  I'd have taken Boise State, as a more complete team, over either of those two jokers in the championship game last year.  And what game did you watch yesterday?  Bama's QB throws balloon passes and LSU doesn't have a pocket passer.  I'd be more than happy to take the over on Boise putting up more points on either of those defenses than either of those teams did last night.

Do you really think putting clearly defenseless teams like Oklahoma State and Sanford ahead of Boise State is fair?  If this all about your love for defense (which it clearly isn't) then surely you'll decry Oklahoma State and Sanford as title contenders.

Also: U mad?
