There's good stuff on it, but as an album it confuses me a bit.

Yeah, which I why I said that because it's taken you so long to finally hear that album.

There's a lot of excellent Free Jazz albums though.  There's also a lot of excellent free jazz albums.

One of my favorite Waits records. Why does it confuse you?

It's very long and the song order seems more or less random.

I didn't feel so. The opening track is the rock attack, followed by various bluesers and ballads (either guitar oriented or piano oriented), in the middle is a quirky spoken word or two, and at the very end you get universalist catharsis anthem. It's quite similar to most of his 1980's/1990's albums. In fact, most critics called it the most 'typical' Waits album.

Well I prefer Bone Machine, Real Gone, Rain Dogs, Closing Time, and Small Change to it. Ahahaha. He IS my favorite artist. I'd give Closing Time, Small Change, Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Frank's Wild Years, Bone Machine, Mule Variations, Alice, and Real Gone all 5/5. I'd give One From the Heart, Orphans, Heartattack and Vine, Heart of the Saturday Night, and Blood Money all 4/5.

Vomps, when I click a beautiful chick's pic, I usually do it to see a larger version of that pic. NOT a dark page with a psychedelic ugly wombay staring at me.
