Topic: Opeth's 10th Album "Heritage"-latest news Posted: March 24 2011 at 21:17 |

A
little update.....after last year was pretty much a year without any
new music from me, I've been working very hard in the studio on various
projects. Firstly, we finished mixing the incredible new Opeth album a
few days ago, keep an eye on their website for details on that. Mikael
and I also took the opportunity while he was here to
finish writing our collaboration album - there's still a lot of
recording work to do, but this should definitely be out in early 2012.
The new SW solo record is still on track for September release, and I
think the next two King Crimson remixes (Larks Tongues in Aspic and
Starless and Bible Black) will be out around the same time. I'm now
working on new stereo and 5.1 mixes of another very famous 70's
progressive album for a deluxe reissue this year, can't say more about
that just yet. Last but not least, over the last year I worked on and
off on a new Bass Communion album called "Cenotaph", which is a kind of
sequel to Ghosts on Magnetic Tape - news on when this will be released
when I have it. I think that's enough for now! Off on tour with
Blackfield soon. Best, S

Still a bit hard to read, so I'll just repost.

The little font appear when you copy & paste a Facebook status on PA - I don't know any way to counter this. And the quote has already been posted in the PT Thread

yknow a while back Mikael said something along the lines of the new album featuring some 'fusion' stuff or whatever, and it got me interested. I lost interest in them and most metal bands years ago after GR came out (though i still think it's their best album) so I may check this out.

I forsee it being less metal, more in the Watershed type. This makes me really excited, although I think the jazzier tendencies Opeth have always shown suited Lopez's drumming moreso than Axe. But I'm still keen for it.

Jesus, SW is crazy. Some may not like his work or approach, but I do, and I see:
-Opeth -Project with Mikael -Solo album -Bass Communion -Blackfield
...all of which to me are at least "good" projects. Easily the busiest man in progressive rock.

^ plus the remixing, which is such a time-consuming and neuron-killing activity.

Exactly there with you. I can't see how Axe's machine-precision drumming would suit a more fusion oriented style. But then Opeth have surprised me more then once already. Let's wait and see

i wish Lopez would work as their studio drummer. That would be awesome, since it never seemed like he wanted to quit when he did.

We can exclusively reveal that the new Opeth album will be titled
'HERITAGE'. The record is due for release through Roadrunner Records in
September. More details to follow soon. |

September, that's not too far away anymore I'm a bit pessimistic though, Opeth has become a band that releases more live albums now then new material, which isn't a good sign generally.

AWWWW HELL YEAH. Definitely looking forward to this after Watershed, which I love.
@Bonnek: I have to disagree, they've only got 3 live DVD's which is much less than a ton of other bands.

I loved Watershed, though now that time has passed I probably think Ghost Reveries is their best. Definitely stoked, will buy on release date or soon thereafter. What a friggin year for prog!!!

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.
