I see her walking,
I feel so small,
Simple little cliches,
Make up our talk,

I see her smiling,
And I almost faint,
I just hope the feeling stays,
After fate takes it's place,

The Only Clock Left On The Mantlepiece

Truth is
nothing is
All warped perceptions.
Tonal in nature
Total in destruction
the sould engulfed.

Break away
The dream commits
Suicide is
the logic persauded
We are here
for nothing.

Every state,
Every plane,
Every period created
A world of lies ingested.
Focus is
on demise
keep us all around.

There is nothing
that will keep me here
beyond my thoughts
my hopes
my regrets
my vision of the future.
All wasted
all in total depletion.
Cover me instead
and close my eyes.

There is nothing
that calls me away
to find a better home.
No force
no hope
no future attainable
that describes where I want to be.
Keep me packaged
locked away
hurting only myself
and the darkness.

There is nothing
I can see
that is as bright
as the black sky
encompassing
the windows
the doors
the walls
they speak,

"For whomever
sits upon
the  doorstep of the past
will be cast
into the concrete
mind of the master.
Out of reach
out of focus
out of touch
out of enjoyment."

Visions come
and visions go
You can only see
what you saw.
But everything you
want
is not what you've
seen.

Unreachable is
the game we play.
Even dreams provide
no relief.
Everything is truth
in dreams.
Messages from what you see
in the minds eye.

Catch and release
the final coffin.
I belong there.
Decaying away
locked in dream.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me
I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive
Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect.

For every inch of trust we give to the government,
The more feet deep we find ourselves stuck in their pool,
Of business deals,
PSA film reels,
Blackened days,
And their corrupted ways,

A Picture of a Pierced One

We don't have a government,
we've always been anarchists.

I started drinking when I was 10.
I wanted beer
or whatever was at hand.

At this rate I can probably finish
my full-scale replica of your vagina
based on the information I've garnered.

If you've had the alligator jaw
smell my life
pierce me here
pass me the languages, please!

I prefer to be rescued than to rescue.

Some people send pics of their vagina to people.

I would rather see her beautiful face.

From what we gather from the marks on her body
I think you'll recognize her.

Some businessmen waste their money
on deluxe microwave ovens.

Please be nice
this Saturday will be different.

I forget about the cigarettes
I forget about the alcohohoohol
I do't need them.

I can live wihtout the alchohohohohhl.

Many young lives are wasted.

Let us lose weight
to get her.

Spring - An Impression

Ah, Spring!
would you believe me if I told you
that the streets are flowing with feces
and that you can't tell the mud from the poo
or the poo from the mud
and whose poo is it anyway
is it the dogs' or the men's
or the women's
and what is it doing on the streets
mixing with the mud and the water
and the water and the mud
and whose poo, exactly, is it anyway
and whose water and whose mud
and whose streets
and whose men and women
and whose dogs?

Whose poo, exactly, did I walk through
on my way to put some money on the horses
and buy the cheap beer they were out of?

Alone,
Me and you,
Staring,
Into,
Each other's,
Dark eyes,
Floating,
Like kites,
Carefree,
Happily,
Smiles,
Blue vials,
No words,
Absurd,
Kindness,
Blindness,
Alone,
Just me,
Take me home,
Oh, please...

Chloe in the dark,
Smiles and waves,
But is struck by sincerity,
And recoils,
She sees the b*****d sun,
As he starts an old rave,
And parades around the town in,
Aluminum foil.

Undue attention forces him to replace the cup to its saucer
And savour the over-milked tea that lingers between tongue and mouth;
The clack of the crockery ricochets in the ears of the few gathered-
The gun shot in the mist- tracing the path of those not able to attend,
This they know. And so it resonates, spiralling towards the infallible,
Entirely foreseeable conclusion of an offered Victoria Sponge
That has an unexpected crunch; ungratifying and awkward
With each pronounced and extended bite that results in nothing,
But coat-hanger-induced smiles, until each person in the room
Is more wardrobe item than acquaintance or friend and the gentle clack of crockery
Breaks the unbreakable silence. Now Miss- hostess –too young for this,
Too old to be beautiful, remedies as she might shuffling between
Lime green chairs that leave friction burns and that don’t quite
Have the cushioning you would expect; that compress, but resist,
And stay crisp like the shirts ironed with starch that stay neat
In the wardrobe upstairs, and does a job that shouldn’t be hers
Attempting to reignite the joy and laughter.
Even while her soul is peeled, layer by layer, to reveal the fleshy, tender
Innards that are no longer protected, this they know. And so does she,
As she scuttles off down the hallway; the overbearing clack of crockery,
Dangerously close to falling, reminding her to keep balance.

I went to see you everyday as you walked down the hallway,
It seemed like no one ever would get out of our way,
Determined to cause friction wherever we went,
It didn't matter the longings or the time we spent,
My insecurity and your neediness,
Somehow one of us was always pissed,
Now the thought of me drains the smile from you face,
And a looming empty stare then takes it's place,
I can't live like that I hope you don't either,
That fragile girl, Grete, why is it so hard to please her?

Sitting at the computer typing on a Progressive Rock Forum
Ubiquitous movement traverse in rivulets
through the fingers of an underground movement
transformed through energy
into a formless life-spawn
brimming with the strength
of a thousand thousand ants
on steroids.

A little diddy I just whipped up in about .5 seconds.

I try to sit down and write serious, thought provoking poetry, but it doesn't go over so well I think. This is a love poem I wrote not too long ago.

The Baptist

Well I was John the Baptist
In a field, a cave; construed
And you were king Nazarene
King Herod of this feud
I preached a love, all-lasting
And yes, your men, they came
For love's to be subdued
By court, by cause, by shame

Speak not of your golden hall
Palace, prison, straightened, dim
I see her so clearly now
I see your blooded brim
For I preach a love, all-lasting
But you'd chance, disagree
The future's growing grim
And you've had enough of me

Like a shepherd to his stock
We were drawn, drawn out of woe
The sword can paint a picture
Yet it never paints a show
But I preached a love, all-lasting
Between both man and wife
I asked you with a kissing bow
You answered with your knife

Of dawns, they do not travel
As sworn companions do
I knew you had outgrown it
The dream, the dream of two
But...I preached a love, all-lasting
Aren't dreams still valid, here?
My heart's head's on a plate for you
Yet you never shed a tear

(Borrowed from The Kinks' She's Bought A Hat Like Princess Marina)

She's bought a hat like Princess Beatrice,
And now she can't afford to take a stand,
I don't think she's capable anyways,
She's too top-heavy for her man.

                                                                               RIP Andy Bell
Friend, Soul mate, a****le, but basically a nice guy.

my only regret is i studied history
        but didn't make it.

        i trusted and got busted
from a home town with a curse.

i was betrayed by disaster sister
       selfish and greedy and ignorant.

Guardian angels refused to come to my aid.
it is so hard to be good but, so easy to be bad.

lies upon lies and hunger and jealousy
     issued to all i met.

      but one ..........

going at it alone is a hell with padded walls.   Cool

I like the allusions to religion, which doesn't mean I like religion, merely the allusions. Wink
Speaking of religion, I was going through some of my old lyrics from band days, and came across this one:

MY GOD
Ó1999 by GJM

My god isn’t one to politicize,

He leaves legal matters to men who are wise --

All the dogmas and doctrines and little white lies,

Far be it from him to criticize

As he stares through the vacuum of a child’s starving eyes.

My God isn’t one you need to impress,

Quoting Torahs and Korans and New Testaments.

Cares little for creed, color or religiousness,

Holy Wars, crusades and all the rest --

It’s all our own doing; it’s all our own mess.

My God isn’t one made solely for man,

Based on our slanted standards, from our tainted hands.

No egocentric opportunists destroying the land,

Raping the forests till there’s nothing but sand,

Reducing the wildlife till nothing left stands.

My God isn’t one you need to implore,

Nor dish out your dollars to some lecherous whores,

Who prey on the desperate till they can’t give no more,

They’re offering you heaven, then slamming the door --

With one hand on the bible, the other down your drawers.

When it’s all over,

When it’s said and done --

On this rock, the Church of One,

Amen.

...a vigorous circular motion hitherto unknown to the people of this area, but destined
to take the place of the mud shark in your mythology...

I can see a big Jethro Tull influence in your band, specifically Aqualung's second side. Let me see if I can find my easter poem somewhere.

EASTER:
Atop the hill, Golgotha square
At next to eve, or so I'd thought
Some sour darkness choked the air
A blackened moon Ostara'd sought

A crowd had gathered for the feast
They raised their Cain, they split their bread
And spilt the blood of man, the East
Whom bore a thorn crown'bove his head

And thought I, to myself, perplexed
What strange occurrence at my place
Would leave these creatures duly vexed
and cause them fall to such disgrace?

Then with my gold egg O fortune
I did embark to watch the scene
Under the call of Octave's boon
To see the comedy divine

Yet nary a soul was laughing
Paschal penance filled all within
Two lone women were a-weeping
For this poor East-man's borne tee-sin

I bade my time 'till none there stayed
The sullen sky was cracking morn
The sun, instead of or'nge, rose grayed
His eyes were distant, weary-worne

I asked of him as if I dream'd
As is the case with older hare
My hole was miles away it seem'd
Sent ever farther with his stare

My question thus: What is your cause?
He answered not, he answered not
With that I understood the pause
I felt the guilt, slow rising; hot

For shame of me to not have seen!
The Eucharist king came and wrought
A hell of dirt, this East was clean
And with his blood, the earth was bought

I then was taken by a fright
And yet he did not turn away
His heart, his very soul was light
And I, this lonesome rabbit, gray

With Eastre's moon still hopeless black
I saw his solitude consume
Of pity, was it, or a lack?
I dared not leave him in his tomb

Then as a gust of courage burst
Which well'd itself inside my chest
I mounted his unsav'ry hearst
And, with him, turn'd to greet the west

I have zero religious beliefs, but I adore religious references and allusions - imagery and symbolism that's been weaved into our cultures for ages.

Hmmm...perhaps, but not anymore so than John Lennon from Plastic Ono Band or Ian Hunter from All-American Alien Boy.

You have a nice turn of the phrase. Some good alliteration as well.
Hmmm...I really don't do religion, so I don't have much in the way of allegory. Let me see here...Ah, here's one:

The Emperor's New Clothes

©1995 by GJM

The emperor has got new clothes
And the court will comply
With a most gracious reply
It's the rage for those in the know

The fawning elite now repair
To purchase the weave
And to tug at the sleeve
Of their sovereign's trendy wear

The pretenders all gather in line
Complimenting the fit
The cut and the shift
Of the emperor's ample behind

There's a carnival rush in the air
They parade in check
With their nipples erect
In naught but their pubic hair…

…And the millions who stare
Via TV prepare
To put in their orders by phone
