Neoclassical Progressive Rock

A couple of months back I posted a question about new bands to look for. MAN! Were YOU guys gracious in offering up help and suggestions. My intitial request had to do with V: The New Mythology Suite by Symphony X which is STILL knocking me down. (Don't like anything else by them, unfortunately). Someone suggested Adagio (both CD's) which are almost identical and just as good as V. Hey...I don't care if EVERY suggestion is a clone of the last three I just mentioned, what ELSE sounds like them?

I'm not articulating  myself very well here but thanks for being patient, Manunkind and all the others who are probably scratching their heads and wondering what I'm talking about. I guess what I'm trying to find is a band where the ensemble playing is so busy and excellent that it actually resembles an electric rock symphony. This is why I like V: and Adagio so much. While it's true these bands are powered by incredidible guitarists, everyone ELSE in the band is just as good. Of course the template for all of this would probably be Rush and to a greater (neoclassical) extent, DT. THAT'S what I'm looking for...a band that is fabulous and is able to incorporate the classical sound. Ideally the CD would be all instrumental. Any ideas?

Check out Shadow Gallery.  I own Carved in Stone (1995), Tyranny (1998) and Legacy (2001).  All of which are excellent and may meet your description of "band where the ensemble playing is so busy and excellent that it actually resembles an electric rock symphony".  They have major classical influences throughout.  Plus, the guitar smokes (Gary Werhkamp I think his name is).

Another band you may want to try is Andromeda.  These bands have many neoclassical influences, but the band isn't a one-man-show like Malmsteen or most Shrapnel Records offerings.  Let us know how it goes...
