The whole thing boils down to attention seeking. Like the attention I am seeking now,  but only for the idea I am broadcasting in this post. In mr Camping's case, he is seeking attention to his own person. His own cult of personality. He is alledged 79 years old. But what he did was acting like a 79 weeks old baby (that's roughly 1.5 years old). You know; a kid sitting on it's backside on the floor, screaming out from the top of it's voice. We have all done that and we have all seen a kid like that. When a 79 weeks old baby seeks attention like that, that is perfectly natural. When a 79 years old pastor does it, it is pretty stupid and psychotic. Those grown up men attention seeking like small toddlers have a mental problem.

And that's what it all boils down to here: Attention seeking. That and cult of personality. Off course Mr. Camping did not believe a word of what he said. He was just seeking attention. Just like a small toddler. For Mr Camping and the likes of him; attention is like drugs. They must get it, whatever the cost.  

........ Which is pathetic (of him) beyond comprehension.

As many of you know I am all too experienced with this type of negativity. The reason in the first place for Jesus freak housing in Vineland and Wildwood N.J. during the 70's and 80's had to do with a cry for help. Some Devil worshippers from the west coast posed and worshipped in a church behind locked doors late at night. These were the police reports derived from a wide investigation into the murder of a boy in my school who died in a Satan ritual. The sect was not convicted due to lack of physical evidence and instead 2 teenage boys were sent to Yardville prison. Satan worship was vast in my town during 1971 and for years after that. So for some reason unknown to me Jesus freak rentals were set up all over the community to convert many of the kids off the street as a means of cleaning things up. T his was an okay move within itself however it caused things to escalate even further. "Jesus Freak" was merely a street term then....just clearing that up for those who might be offended. You had to live through what I did to understand it.

This worldly prediction we speak of in this thread was on many kid's agenda's for years. The ones who WERE converted. The place was a mess. The most moronic teachings were applied as they waited for us to leave the school after dismissal. Ridiculous preachings like...."Long hair and Black Sabbath" meant you were going to hell. Many of the special ed kids in school were already brainwashed by Satan cults , but were now brainwashed and fanatical over apocalypse and what was in store for the world. Since the police had no physical evidence to convict the real source...this was the solution made by higher ups of our community. As a result...kids took their albums and burned them, thought demons were chasing them, and preached to all those not converted about the end times. You talk about David Icke? He is pretty extreme and I agree, but in the real world it is 50 percent true and 50 percent false due to the extremist sounding stories in the press. Supposedly in the Bible....Jesus states that he himself will not know when the end times occur, but these people walked around in groups preaching that they did. I have friends from my past and in their 50's who have mental issues to this day because they were converted by so called Christians when they were too young and brain dead to make decisions on their own. Instead of studying the Bible and attending church with a healthy attitude....they just went from one cult to another. Totally annoying and quite moronic if you ask me?   And the most ignorant act of all was the way they went about speaking free about the dreadful end times to little children. Shocking them to death for the end times. Rambling on and on so they could leave an impression on the child's mind! Very un-healthy for the community....I am certain.

you should write a book about this Shocked, a doku or a thriller/horror/psych thriller, it is a great yet terrifying history, and then you can sell the story to a hollywood producer, and make it into a Criminal Minds episode. and you will be invited as a guest at the Daily Show

you should write a book about this Shocked, a doku or a thriller/horror/psych thriller, it is a great yet terrifying history, and then you can sell the story to a hollywood producer, and make it into a Criminal Minds episode. and you will be invited as a guest at the Daily Show
It's quite moronic within itself because many who read about the acts pulled of during the "Satanic Panic" era find it mostly to be farce or just good press. In otherwords....B.S. However....one shouldn't dismiss the pattern of history just because of hype. Satan cults hiding in plainsight.....which is duo worship. God in the day and Satan in the night has ruled as a practice for centuries. So if I went to Hollywood with the story....it would be considered just another fly on the wall. lol!

i initially ment only a book, the film thing was only silly thoughts, but some stories is to important to not be put on a paper, and sometimes the best way to deal with such experiences is to write it down.

i don't really believe in such stuff, but I like to read it, like astrology, I have learnd that it aint reliable or real, but it is stil a great read to and nice concept, I really like all myths of seamonsers and giant humanoids lurking in forests, Chuppachabras, Mothman, things that create mysteries i like becouse it is strange and  ceeps my imagination up at state, I really like to have imagination (mine is quite vivid) evidence or not, sometimes one shal honour human abiliaty to think out of the box, how do you think tLotR would existed if not for the great human abilaty of imagination, Imagination is humand greatest skills, men would not have created fire or use the wheel haddent imagination bin a role in the prosess IMO (ofcourse)

Jesus Christ speaks to a heart, it is no character flaw. The scholars who have decided the Bible is not the Word of God are thinking with their minds and have not opened up their hearts.

Why is this a debate about Christianity ? This is not a matter of Christianity whatsoever. This is purely a matter of a sad old looser in USA seeking attention and getting it. On the same day, orphans in Malaysia perished in a landslide, tens of people were killed in the drug war in Mexico and the free media is fighting a battle of utmost importance for the freedom of expression on another matter. But we human beings are giving this old looser the attention he craves.

Of course I agree that it makes no sense to go through all the arguments again - especially in a thread with such a transient topic. I must comment though on the irony that you would recommend a book which deals with a myth of the old testament which was disproved even by Jewish archeologists. 

Historical documents can never prove a miracle claim - it's self-evident. Any other explanation is infinitely more likely than an actual miracle. Ehrman explains this using the empty tomb as an example. Consider the possibility that the tomb was robbed, or that some disciples removed the body from the tomb, or that the tomb was confused with another tomb, the body never got there etc.. Sounds unlikely? Compared to an actual miracle (the resurrection) it's much more likely.
