I'm pretty f**king sure aliens did not play a role in the development of ancient cultures.

People still believe that Hell is actually in the center of the Earth.
And aliens helped build the human species.
Hell and aliens co-existing sounds unlikely, in my opinion.

What does he claim they are?

Here's his defense (we were arguing earlier today and it spilled onto facebook): Just because insects are classified into animals doesn't make them Animals. So are fish, and marine life (excluding mammals from that). But they are separate from other "Meat" products on the food chain, yet they're both technically meat. Why? Because theirs a major difference. Now, I'm not saying that Fish aren't animals too, but it's an example. Insects are much more different then animals, they have they're own kingdom, they just fall under the same as Animals. But the two are completely different, DNA wise, lifestyle wise, habitat and reproduction wise as well; unless you're talking about bacteria which is somewhat similar. Asexual durrhurr.
Even his grammar is atrocious

Well we can't really prove either right or wrong so really they could be deserving of belittlement. | yes we can. It's called archeology, anthropology and biology. None of those fields mention aliens. |
Well if civilization was started by aliens, we wouldn't actually know whether we were aliens or not.
I think it's BS but both arguments are practically unprovable.

They aren't animals because they are different than other animals?

That's exactly what I said. I countered that with: no. just no. Insects don't have their own kingdom. They are under the animalia kingdom. They reproduce similar to all other animals. and of course they have different life styles they're a different species, just like monkeys have different lifestyles than dogs. are monkeys and dogs now not animals? yes, insects are in a different class than mammals, but that doesnt make them less animal. fish are in a different class. birds are in a different class. are birds and fish not animals? what your saying is that the only type of animals are mammals, which is extremely short sighted. and seriously, "Just because insects are classified into animals doesn't make them Animals," your saying that because insects are animals, they're not animals. that's just blatantly stupid. "Animals" do not have to be "Meat." Seriously, you contradict your self so many times in the above paragraph: "they have they're own kingdom, they just fall under the same as Animals" lolwut? that's a huge contradiction. Dude, insects are animals, just deal with it. And he then countered again with this: Insects are not animals. I will never admit they are animals. I would rather die then say the statement "Insects are animals". Not only did you take my example/words wrong, but you turned them around against me to try and fool me, which you failed to do. Congratulations, you accomplished nothing.
It's pathetic.

I would counter with "I'd rather you die than have to listen to your worthless sh*t".
Or maybe just "Then die."
