Besides, you dislike a lot of Bob Dylan for not having melodies.  His music has a lot of melodies.  I agree though, some of them do g on a bit...

Desire though, is musically sound.

I'll agree with you about McCartney. But this isn't for pure listening. These are artists I've never fully associated myself with. This is a project to hopefully discover music I adore. So far, Elton's 1969-1975 material was quite fruitful, and I love all I've heard of Marley (half an album...Catch a Fire).

Now, I don't dislike Dylan, I'm just not in the right mood to love what he does. Of course he has melodies, it's just they're so predictable and simple and droning, especially when you compare even the best of them to oh, this is an argument that's been ground into the dust. Do Desolation Row and Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowland need those monolithic lengths? The idea behind Like a Rolling Stone is familiarized and fulfilled to me by the three minutes mark, it's nearly seven minutes long. I like the guy's lyrics, but I'm not a lyrics-guy, anymore.

Now the Smiths are a band I could never really enjoy. Maybe two songs on Queen is Dead, but that's it. I ain't heard none of his solo material, though.

No.

Oh, I would get tea instead of coffee as well.

I just lost all I wrote in reply due to the still unfixed P.A. error... argh!

I'll try again.

Desolation Row is the perfect length.  It's one of my favourites.
Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands and Visions of Johanna are pretty long but I don't dislike them.

Some of my favourites are:

Travelling World War III Blues
Lilly, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts
Ballad of a Thin Man

I think some of his best albums are those backed by The Band.  Mmm.

This is annoying me.

People are now saying Hamann has got the job.  Some are also saying the decision will be delayed to Thursday or Friday, instead of tomorrow.

Sort it out!

So far I prefer the Band when they went on their own. Music From Big Pink is one of my favorite albums. I actually do really enjoy Desolation row, and a ton of single songs by the guy. It's the deep album cuts I have trouble with. But Tambourine Man, Times are a-changing, New Morning, The Man in Me, If Not For You, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Desolation Row, Tangled up in Blue, and All Along the Watchtower (and most everything on John Wesley Harding) - I love those songs.

He's not.

He did a gig in Swindon and decided it was sh*t and collapsed halfway through.

It is. I'd put Strangeways and Queen slightly above it though. The Queen is Dead is in my top 10 favorite albums ever.

Dylan at his best is the "Royal Albert Hall" concert which was actually at the London Free Trade Hall. Everything is perfect about that performance and people still jeer when The Band comes onstage.

Mia! How goes it?
