There is a new Genesis album called "Genesis The First Songs" available for digital download which features previously unreleased early live performances of Gabriel genesis.

Genesis new album

The following tracks are featured (by the way they are not any of those which appear on any Genesis live album, all of which I have heard, including the boxsets.)

  1. Dancing With The Moonlight Knight | 6:41
  2. Firth Of Fifth | 11:26
  3. The Battle of Epping Forest | 12:27
  4. Cinema Show | 11:14
  5. Get'em Out By Friday | 9:19
  6. I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) | 6:44
  7. Musical Box | 10:54
  8. Supper's Ready Suites | 23:32
  9. Twilight Alehouse | 8:30
  10. Watcher Of The Skies | 7:54

Review:
[This album is entirely soundboard recordings from Gabriel Era- Genesis shows, but owing either to the early 70s technology or lack of maintenance, they are not in pristine condition [unfavorably compare with ELP's recent A Time And A Place]. It is a little better and a lot less crowd-mic heavy than THE WORD IS LIVE by Yes, which can give you a headache owing to the far-away sound of the band. This is a lot closer, quite dynamic actually and with noticeable stereo mix, better edited, but still low-quality and bootlegish compared to other Genesis live releases, which are usually dynamite. The strengths of the album are cheap price, rare material and length (almost two hours)] -comment below.

Oh yeah, I must have messed up or google hadn't spidered it yet, but here is a better indication there is a new album!

PS. It's only digital, a fact which seems to be a gibe at Prog fans, who like their hard copies

To be honest, I have no interest in low quality live old Genesis recordings.  If it were DVD video, maybe.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Thanks Roy, that's persuaded me. If I were paying top dollar, I wouldn't bother, but the cheap bit sounds appealingLOL

I'm listening to it right now and editing myself as I go. Big smile.

I wish that they would have gone with an older looking Genesis logo considering the material on this. For the price it might be worth looking into.

I might be interested, except for the inclusion of  "The Battle of Epping Bore Us," and nothing from their, imho, pinnacle achievement The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway LOL

Not criticizing Roy - thanks for sharing the news. Love your avatar, btw. Got me wondering how Babs and Clean Willie are doing these days!

Thanks for the update. It is nice to own Twilight Alehouse. Does anyone know why Twilight was never used on a studio album because its a fantastic song.  The album is worth buying simply for the conclusion of Supper's Ready which is absolutely amazing.  Something about the different key from the original makes it more emotional for me.
