It's dronebient.  Check this track out:

That sounds like it might fit in prog electronic. Kind of reminds me of Richard Pinhas.

A bunch of bands like that are in post rock when really they could fit into either. New subgenre would be nice. That way bands like Helios could be in PA.

phillipe should leave Progressive Electronic. It's a shame that every band that is in PE has to list Tangerine Dream as an influence.

Dronebient. Either that or get rid of progressive electronic altogether.

Progressive electronic has a certain set of criteria to meet, and a lot of modern artists don't fit in with that group. Just like you wouldn't put a krautrock band in with the symphonic prog genre, certain electronic groups that happen to make progressive music just don't fit into the established "progressive electronic" schema.

I'm all for vulgar mechanical-techno-ish music getting its own genre placement on this site, though. It could be called Progressive VMT.

Of course, not to imply that my opinions matter. I'm only a parasite on PA.

LOL Nice post. I wouldn't agree with putting techno electronic on PA, though. But I would like M@x to make an all-genre electronic music site (EMA), with stoney for Admin. Tongue That would be fun.

Man, would that be awesome. Problem is no one would be in charge of the musique concrete team (Stockhausen, anyone?).

I hate the current state of progressive electronic too, but I feel like Dronebient is not in any way a useful term.

I would kill to be the head of that team. I love Stockhausen and Nono and the like.
