Hello all PA members! (Or at least those of you visit this section...)

Well, this is my first attempt at progressive rock... I've been making music for about 3 years now and have released an EP in the genre of alternative rock. You can tell I'm somewhat ambitious, since this is actually a part of a concept album I'm making. (Hence the name, "Overture")

Anyways, you can listen to the song either here or here for high quality.

And yeah, it might be worth noting that I'm only 15 years old... And I'm doing all the recording, producing and mastering myself. (And of course the songwriting too!)

So tell me what you think!

Cheers,
Sondre

Great work, Sondre.  Very nice shift into the synthesizer at two minutes.  You show an incredible degree of potential.

Well done! I suspect you will be really amazing in a couple of years. ...I envy you a bit being 15 years old with all of today's technology at your hands. When I was 15 I recorded by bouncing with two consumer cassette recorders :-) Well, I made some tunes on my Commodore 64 as well...

I did the same, but what  I did was so poor that I'm happy that the technology was so limited.  True talent can be expressed regardless it and I think he has. After one listen only I can say that the song gives me good sensations. Very promising.Clap

When I first started it was a Tascam 4-track tape recorder.  What an incredibly time consuming process!  Return to zero?  Not anymore!  Big smile

Having a Tascam was a dream for me...I used a Playback II Philips, the only device cheap enough for me. I was looking for a VestaFire MR-4 whose cost was just twice the playback...but I luckily gave up.

Thanks a lot everyone! Big smile It's wonderful to get such quick and good response.

I have to admit I feel very lucky to live in these modern times, since I can afford what I need to record my own music. I hope that I'll continue to improve, and now I have some extra motivation given the great response!

Cheers,
Sondre

If you live anywhere other than the British countryside....... no. LOL

But e-mail me from my profile some time...... All I have is a piano and a little 4-track recorder, but I'm always writing.

Hey! Hey! Some parts reminded me of Solaris. You are 15? You must be multi-talented. I am very impressed with your work. Very well done regarding the composition. Very great!

ClapBig smile Absolutely great composition. I love how you had some really melodic/grandiose guitar lines in there also the really serene keyboard and synth work in there. I hear a lot of Dream Theater influence, am I right?

That was really good, especially considering that you're just 15. It got better and better the further out this got, and you'll very likely develop a lot as a song writer, very fast. You show potential for very good song writing, and this is a great start. Nice :)

Just curious, what region in Norway are you from? I'm Norwegian myself, and it's good to know that there are other experimental musical people growing up as well, even in Norway, not just in Sweden (Sweden is THE prog country!)
