John Cage's seminal and controversial masterpiece - 4:33 as never heard before - in a limited edition 24 bit remastered dolby surround sound version with bonus tracks and lavishly illustrated booklet is now available.
Nature Hates Vacuuming Records have unearthed over 22 minutes of previously unreleased material from their vaults to being you what is tantamount to the avant garde's lost Smirk album.
Engineer and Producer Colin O'Flabbergast takes up the story:
One day I was searchin' round the storage vaults looking for some ol' Varese demos when I spotted this ancient reel of tape lying in a tattered old cardboard box. It didn't have a label or sticker or nothin', just the words 'suckers' scribbled on the side. Damn that Sadie I cussed, she's gone an' clean forgot to catalogue these critters right....again. I was gonna just leave it there but I thought, what the hell, so I gave it a whirl on the reel to reel and dang nab it, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. We had to clean it up a bit with noise reduction and all but were real careful to preserve the dynamics and feel of the original performance, I thinks that's real important. There's been a few bootlegs appeared over the years and I must'a heard 'em all but the sound quality is just so bad on those varmints that you just can't hear nuthin'. I'm now glad that more people will get to enjoy the legit version and I'm sure that John would have dug hearing it as well y'all.
