Hi,

You should really check his early work on the Rickie Lee Jones albums ... without him, I don't think that Rickie sounds half as good.

There was another Steve Gadd (supposedly) on a band from LA called Charlie ... that had a couple of nice albums ... and the first album is very nice ... Fantasy Girls it was called. The drumming seems to be similar to my ears, perhaps a younger man than before ... but Steve does not list this on his web pages at all.
Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

Copeland gave 80's drummers something to aim for, his sound and playing are both just amazing in early and late Police albums

THIS. Gadd is just amazing. All are good, though I am not a Stewart Copeland fan. You look at the body of work, who, he's played with, etc. and Gadd is just untouchable.

Sympathy vote for Vinnie.  I've got a couple of DVDs of him live with Jeff Beck and the lovely Tal.  He never seemed like much of stand out drummer, but I gained new respect for him.
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
