I am in favor of the idea of Gen Eds because I have some gay ideas about a well rounded education. They never seem to be implemented very well, though.

You're assuming that forcing a person to take a class that they do not want to take guarantees that they will learn something. You can't make a person well rounded any more than you can make that fat chick who hangs all over you at the bar look like Scarlett Johanson.

I could summarize my eductation like this:
-Pay a lot of money to buy books.
-Have lecturers go through the books and note important passages.
-5% of ideas for the test will not be from the book, but only an idiot wouldn't be able to take a logical guess at them.
-Do one worthwhile project a class, if that.
So, how much am I in debt in order to learn sh*t I could have learned by renting a few books from the library and taken a CLEP test for $50?
Now I'm working 30 hour weeks and going to school with 19 credits (23 next semester) and trying not to think about my debt or lack of life.
F**k anyone who doesn't think all manner of formal education in th US is retarded.
I also had a professor say something like, "You're in college. This should be your job. You should be putting 40 hours in schoolwork each week." In retrospect, I don't know how I didn't burst out laughing. It could be I was taken aback at how out of touch he was.

Agreeing with the Education talk i'm finishing my main education in a couple of months and I know i need a very large break from it.Yet i'll no doubt end up having to spend thousands doing an Undergraduate degree just so I can look good enough to get a job.
And I read that Rebecca Black's parents paid a record company for the song so it probably wasn't even her idea

I've had some fantastic lecturers I'd pay a substantial amount of money for. But in general, give me a textbook and I'll show up with a question or two once a week.
We have a few excellent lecturers. We have the ability to record them and mass broadcast their lectures. Instead, we settle for tens of thousands sub par lecturers and pay thousands of dollars to sit through them.
