Much thanks.

it's really weird to have some people being being totally wiped out of their homes and actually killed at the same time I'm getting moved back in to a house that was repaired from a disaster while others on the other side of the planet are experiencing an event that is totally devastating.  I'd like to talk about the nice things happening here but it just doesn't seem appropriate.

The music room is taking great shape.  I got some indoor/outdoor carpet for the floor.  The space had been a converted carport.  I put it in with the help of my wife.  It's not a professional installation but it works for the room.   I was just playing my acoustic guitar in there and the acoustics of the room are rather interesting.  It's got one brick wall and the rest are drywall including the ceiling.  It's kind of funny how she and I quarrel over the particulars as we get settled in but we eventually come to a consensus.  I am really pleased at the house.

Thanks again for the outline.  I'm seriously considering putting something together.  It will probably be about a month before I can start working on it.  I think it will take the form of me taking a section and just improvising on it.  Haven't worked out the details of how I'm going to get it recorded and into a format I can share.  I don't have any microphones.  I could do DVD video though. Big smile

Tonight a full moon has risen in the east.  It will traverse to the west and beam in through the bedroom windows in early morning.  Sweet. Big smile

Nothing beats it being clear at night and you can see out.

Hope to have all the CDs back on the shelving units today.

Oh I hope so, Slart, you deserve to kick back and pull a CD off your shelf and rock out!  Beer

Let us know what the first official CD is once the stereo is reconnected.

You're not suggesting I should store my CDs in Kayaks are you? Tongue

It's been a great day.  Got two window mistreatments up in the library and music room.  A temporary installation until I can hang them properly. My honey donated a couple pieces of fabric to me to use.  One is this black shear piece which is rather ordinary but I folded it over in half and you get these really cool fluctuating interference patterns as you walk by it.  My sister and brother in law came over for dinner.  Our first guests.  The CD and music DVDs are in place though will be elevated.

For Finn, I'm overdue for a random load, so let's see what comes up first...

Well, the last detail to complete the bathroom was completed today: the handle for the shower valve.  some sort of mixup apparently.  We made do.  I am so completely pleased with how the bathroom turned out.  About the only thing that was good about the old one was the blue and pink mosaic tile.  Let's just say it had major issues.  Now it's state of the art.  Still small, but all new fixtures, cabinets, accessories.  I really like the tile color I picked out.  I will follow through and make some pics of the place as more things get into place.

As figures, glitches.  The new circuit breakers in the electrical panel started tripping too easily all of a sudden.  Probably an easy fix but limits the devices we can have active at once.  Fortunately the most vital stuff is on good quality original breakers from when the house was upgraded by previous owners.  The ones that started tripping are new and probably just defective.  The wiring went through a county inspection.  Still we have a great contractor that will get it taken care of and it's not likely to be a difficult fix.

The moving in pains continue and once again you get back to the old house problems, or more appropriately at this stage, lot problems.  The old tree near the front creek and the driveway collapsed mostly.  Had not been able to get it taken care of before the flood.  Got a good company to saw it up and take it away.  The trees on this lot are both a gift and a menace sometimes.

Life's little victories: the wireless network adapter that works with Windows 7 arrived and now I can access the internet from my best computer which has a home in the music room.  I still have to work out all the particulars with getting the home network to communicate, Cakewalk to MIDI communicate with my MIDI communicateable keyboard and sequencer.  The current signature view is the library room.  The CPUnit and monitor and keyboard are now Residents Tongue of the music room.

Well, I video'd my first take for the first segment of Crap We're About To Be Flooded (It Happened). Still trying to figure out how to get it off of the DVD into a format I can post...
Making progress, I think.

Well I can't sign in to the stinking utube can't get the stinking windows video program to work for me.  I'm calling it a day but I think I have something halfway decent for starters.

Well, the ordeal is mostly over.  There's something I wanted to write about that happened today not related to the flood.  Not necessarily worthy of a separate thread at least I couldn't find one on animal cruelty.

My wife goes out the front door early in the morning and there's this brown and mostly black dog laying down on one side of the bridge looking at the house.  She's didn't grow up with pets like I did so she walks up to shoo it away to no avail.  Turned out it was a Rottweiler that had apparently chewed off the rope she was tied to and escaped from a jerk of an owner.  The dog was in fairly good shape though badly in need of a bath.  The rope was made into a collar and there was a bandanna underneath as if that helped any.  The rope had dug into her neck as we found out later when some rescuers showed up.  My wife had called county animal control but the rescuers showed up first.  I did try to help her (the dog, not my wife, have to be careful with use of pronouns) out of the bandanna which she had caught one of her front legs in after she had been wandering around for a while.  She snapped at me when I tried to help but had been following my wife all over the place as if to say please take me in.  We couldn't but I think she's in good hands now.

Oh this is weird.  When I got the Kawai K1 synth hooked up at the apartment the patches stored on board weren't working, just the ones on the memory card.  They are back.  The water got to the front right side of the keyboard and I assumed I would have to reconstruct them the hard way as there is no interface program that works with computers past Windows 3.1.   I'll have to do some playing around to see if it will work with my latest Windows 7 computer.  The amp that you see in current sig sounds great in the music room. Big smile

Eh some of the onboard patches are still scrambled.  But the really freaky ones seem to be working. LOL
