Of the ones i've heard, this is probably my list:

  1. Pornography
  2. Faith / Disintegration
  3. Seventeen Seconds
  4. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me

All good albums, though!

But i'm very new to them (only about 3 weeks), so my list will change!

Pornography is essential.

On japanese whispers there is one song that I love a lot and that belongs to my favourite of theirs, "lament". Very haunting atmosphere.

I'm just discovering them. I tried them about a decade ago and hated them, but now I can stand the 80s sound, mostly because of the 80s revival who un-dated it (so to say). So I love Disintegration, what should I get next?

half the head on the door, half kiss me, 2/3 of the top, 2/3 of the wish, then the whole dark trilogy (seventeen seconds, faith and Pornography).
Pornography is their darkest work, hence their best.
you might be interested in the project the glove, a collaboration between Siouxsie and Banshees' Steven Severin and The Cure's Robert Smith.

I have a soft spot for the Cure...loved how they changed from being so morbid e.g. Faith, Pornography......then got happy again e.g. Head on The Door and some of Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me. It's amazing what drugs can do!

1. Head on the Door
2. Faith
3. Pornography
4. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me

The only Cure album I knew growing up was Disintegration.  I recently discovered Pornography and it's awesome. (lol @ that sentence).

That's a disgusting way of thinking. You tolerate greatness merely because some degenerate thieves usurped the sound and sold it back to you? That's just absurd and its exemplary of the ignorance I fight against. Say "NO!" to new music and say "YES!" to pre-89 heroes! Always go for the real deal and never, ever, support idiotic revivalists.

^ That's like saying let's scrap all this post-1979 garbage, we all know the true thing was from 1975 to 1979, what came next was degenerate thieves usurping the greatness of punk.

Yes, that is pretty much how much sense your general position makes.

Why not go a step further, lets only listen to pre 1959 music, elvis was the orginal anyway, and all thos later artist stole everything from him and the old blues guys anyway, the beatles and the stones all they did was steal from old blues songs they dident come up with anything new or orginal. And the 80s seriusly what new music came from the 80s? everything in the 80s was done allready in the 70s and 60s, the 80s sucked big time like a big black hole for music, nothing new only theft from the old classics in the 70s that stole from the old classics in the 60s that stole from the old classics in the 50s and so on and on... serisly why dont we all yust stop listen to music alltoghter and go and do something worthwhile, music is yust a wast of time, i say lets ban music! it all sucks anyway! its yust noise and a wast of time. Stop wasting your usles life listening to usles music and do something worthile, music is yust bad for your brain and makes you stupid and lazy. (Wink)

And jazz has its roots in baroque music : you can hear "walking bass" in Monteverdi's madrigals !
