No.  Why would you want this.  What sort of benefit would this bring to society.

No stupid and pointless deaths, maybe?

I live in a country has reasonably strict gun laws.  I'm glad we rarely have mad men killing people on the streets.  I went to Prague once and my mate and I found a shop selling guns, knives morning stars and all-sorts... it was weird.  There was a Policeman in there buying stuff. LOL

The thing is, as far as my knowledge goes, Britain has traditionally never been a very gun-populous country.  Not that they aren't still used or anything, but firearms have just never been very well established in Britain.  Correct me if I'm wrong but the London police still don't carry firearms with them, do they?

Here in the United States where shooting is a much more prevalent both pastime and accepted form of home defense, firearms are in general more well-established in the minds of Americans.  This extends to criminal activity as well, and as a result gun laws get stricter.  The only thing is, criminals will always be able to acquire firearms regardless of their legality.  All these stricter laws do is make it tougher for law-abiding citizens to enjoy their pastimes.  Or, in Pat's case, establish a privatized police force.

I used to be all about gun control because, well its what you do as a good liberal, but I realized the very large majority of  crimes are committed with illegally obtained guns. So a lot of good gun control does LOL Besides, obtain a gun 100% legally and do everything right, ya can still go shoot a school up...

Everyone should be background checked, regardless.

Besides that what does it matter about the actual guns? I used to think no one needs an automatic rifle, it should be limited to just handguns and shotguns/riles but they'll just get one anyway....
No point in legislating something that really has ZERO impact LOL

Even when people say "there should be less ammo in guns!" or "limit the amount of ammo you can buy"
That's legally. Someone will just get whatever they want anyway, and thinking otherwise is just naive.

BTW do you like Tesseract?

Very much so.  I know their debut LP comes out very soon and I'm very excited for it.

As am I. I'll be seeing them with PtH in May too.

JEALOUS.  They aren't even coming to Chicago or any place within a 6 hour drive. Cry

That suckss. Have you ever seen them live?

Nope, neither of them.  The TesseracT/Periphery tour didn't come anywhere near me either.

PtH is pretty cool live. I enjoy Rody's drunken ramblings. They don't capture the sound from the studio fully, but they're still very entertaining.

Rody stopped midsong when I saw them to comment on the epicness of my friend's beard.

That's epic.  They'd better come somewhere within driving distance soon or I'mma be pissed.

A BB gun.

I didn't enjoy it.

Yes I am aware.  However, some of the recent horrible gun crimes in England have been by members of the general public.

Isolated incidents, yes but they're becoming all the more common.  Knife crime especially is worse now than it ever was before.

We have those limitations here. The citizen can only have 4 weapons top: 2 handguns and 2 long nuzzle guns (either a rifle or a shotgun). There are also background checking, yearly license revision, etc, etc and that does not stop the druglords from having AR-15, AK 47s, FALs, RPGs and anti-air guns, as well as a huge variety of explosives.

Shooting guns is completelly awesome. The power, the precision, the recoil, the smell of lead and powder, the feel of cold steel. . . .Never shot anything but targets inside the local police HQ, but still, a pretty great experience overall.

I've made a resolution to not be a crazy libertarian in every thread that I post in.

Well there ya go James.

Have a sever crackdown on guns, and have knife crime increase.

See? A lot of good that did right? LOL

And that's what I mean Caio. I DO believe all you need is a handgun or shotgun. No need for an uzi, automatic, grenade launcher LOL BUT have to be realistic, anyone who wants one will just get one. So I see no point.
Besides law abiding citizens may obey the laws, but someone who is already a criminal...well why would they follow it?
So now gang members still have all their guns and some good, law abiding citizens may not. I'm not even making that up, once saw a small interview with a gang member saying how they love new gun control laws since it gives them an upper hand. Real nice. Ermm

Of course the criminals will get them on the black market, I'm not denying that.

However, I don't want to have to carry a knife or gun around for self-defence purposes 'cause some c**t is an arsehole and decides to not use his/her weapon for self-defence.  Hell, I should have to use any form of weapon for self-defence.

Kevin, yes our policeman do not carry guns around.  Truncheons, yes and the riot police have shields and batons.  No guns though.  That's fine in my opinion.

Kevin, have you ever thought that perhaps if your gun laws were different, the mindset of Americans would be different?  It's because guns are readily available that you guys have accepted them so easily.

If your brother got shot and killed, how would you feel then?

I would probably be sad and mad that someone shot him. I wouldn't take out my anger on the very notion of legally owning a gun.

If your brother got food poisoning would you call for restaurants to be abolished?

Nope.

We've had these gun laws for years.  Only recently has knife-crime been on the increase.  So it's not really got a correlation with it.  It's just the change in societal needs.  We have more a gang culture over here now.

We also have knife amnesties by the way.

There's also more poor and more income inequality in the US then in Europe.

Crime reduced, across the nation, during the 1990's (as times were getting better).
An overall reduction, and greater reduction in most cities.
Maybe crime is just related (generally) to how you're doing and not owning 17 guns?

So make the country better off and IMHO that is the best way to deter crime.
I guess social democracy would be the best way to do that Tongue

With that I'm going for a walk, cya shred
