it attracts people becasue we want to know exactly what the thread is about. The word 'Nazi' still has controversial implications. As has the word 'Holocaust' as I discovered. Hopefully people will keep civil here and it doesnt blow up into a storm.

I know you're clearly on a Charlie Sheen-esque high here, so I understand you repeating yourself 10 times, but I see absolutely no problem with the thread title. There's no reason to change anybody's thread title, unless it's deliberately misleading, which it is not.

True. Classical purists would laugh at us.

Well, there are even some prog "purists" who laugh at us

I couldn't possibly imagine anyone laughing at us.

I think my new signature will be Nazi Salute.

Nazi salute does not imply pro-Nazi sentiments or the thread being about anything other than the nazi salute, which it is! I really don't understand that logic. I certainly hope that if you moderate at jazzchives you won't be such a thread fascist, otherwise I will have to lead a revolution.

When I started reading some classical reviews I was amused to discover the hatred they have for the majority of the classical fanbase, even the people who go to concerts. Incidentally, my local classical station is public radio so they periodically have to beg for money, and at some point during the day, if you gave them some outrageous amount of money they give a "gift" of a 6 CD best of classical set. So to sell it the DJs were going on about how this is so convenient because it has the best, most familiar sections of all your favorite works so you can go right to them, etc. I can't even imagine how much it must have hurt them to say that.

I gave them $35 a few years ago, but they bled it all away in letters to me asking for more money, so forget it. I still get one every few months.

I'd also hate you if you forced me to publicize a "best of" classical cd...

True, and it seems like a stupid giveaway as well. Wouldn't the kind of people who listen/donate to classical radio be beyond that sort of thing?

Oh, and the new jazz site sounds like such a pleasant environment already. I can't wait to not visit it.

Not really though. Many people who listen to classical stations have no clue and just like the "pretty" music and actually belief Andrea Bocelli is the best opera singer ever...
