And very good! "It seems to me that the only people who seek protection under such so-called 'rights' are those who know full well that their utterances or actions are completely indefensible."
To me that sounds like you are saying people in those cases are using rights as an excuse, and you turned it around to make me look bad. You'd be a good politician!

Freedom of speech is not "universal". You can't, for instance, yell "fire" in a theater or "I've got a bomb" in an airplane; neither can you threaten the life of the president. Defamation, incitement to crime, verbal sexual harrassment in the work place -- these are all not free speech. Cyberbullying is also not covered under free speech in some states.

Yes, I know. I actually said that very thing earlier. See Timothy Leary! I told you someone was going to say it anyway.... It's universal that is should be free for everyone, as I said a few pages back there are cases where it's been determined that freedom of speech is not guaranteed. Read the pages before commenting!

I wasn't replying to a comment made several pages ago, I was commenting about what you said just now. Rather than demand someone backtrack for no reason, how about making your posts clearer? Making the statement "freedom of speech is universal" is neither true when referring to the world, nor is it true in a U.S. constitutional sense.

Answer:
a nice person would have called this thread something like 'freedom of speech at stake'
while the other would have called it 'Nazi Pride' or 'Nazi Salute' or something like that.

Oi, Snow Dog, an Admin, somebody...just change the name of the damn thread already! Also sup Easy? Unusual activity in here, are you up to something? Monitoring and controlling the thread without actually doing so? Like some type of omnipresent thought police?

If they weigh the same as a duck, they are made of wood, and therefore a nazi sympathizer!
Easy.

That would mean...a witch... what weighs the same as a duck and is made of wood...is also a nazi sympathizer? Would that be a laden or unladen nazi sympathizer? And can they say the word "it"?

You can yell "there are motherf**king snakes" on an airplane if you are an actor on screen in a movie. In fact you can yell those other things under those same circumstances. Perhaps you've never heard of The Towering Inferno or Airport???

There are a number of ways. The one I like (because it's easy to remember) is that a nice person doesn't sympathize with Nazis, whereas a Nazi sympathizer does.
