Hey Jordan, how're you?

Not bad. Listening to some Radiohead in preparation for their new album. It's nice and sunny here :)

How are you?
Listening to Toby Driver's solo album nice and loud. Also debating whether or not I should order new Radiohead album. I might just wait for the standard CD release (if there is one).

Interesting. My friend's going to send me the mp3 files and I plan on buying the CD.

I suppose I should have paid more attention in the past.  How does Attahk rank against Magma's other albums?

More song-oriented, closer to fusion than to Zeuhl.  I like it.

Bad. Try Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh, K. A or Live/Hhaï

It's a solid album although more jazz-fusiony than zeuhl. Still definitely worth checking out.

It seems to be disco zeuhl.  Not really liking it too much.

Then don't try Merci, and only try the second half of Udu Wudu (if you're continuing on with Magma).  The style of music on the first side of Udu Wudu is similar to the music on Attahk, but nowhere near as well played.

I've had Attahk for quite a while, I just never bothered listening to it.  So far I am pretty mixed on Magma.  I think that they are the type of band that I would enjoy better as an all-instrumental band.

Yeah, since you're not as big of a fan of the strange vocals, you'd definitely like instrumentals better.  If you had the Studio Zünd box set, you'd get a nearly instrumental version of MDK on one of the bonus discs. Tongue

And it's usually pretty funny whenever someone does take it seriously.

Now my Borders giftcard is pretty much useless. f**k.

Yeah, I kind of regret getting uptight about anything he ever said.

I remember reading that before Jaga Jazzist recorded One Armed Bandit they told in an interview that they had previous to that listen to alot of classic prog and among them thy stumbled ontu some Gentle Giant (live DVDs and CDs) they were floured and impressed by the joy and profissioncy of the band, and you can clearly hear a Gentle Giant influnce on One Armed Bandit by Jaga Jazzist.

it might have been a PA interview

Nick: I guess you will probably know why do I ask this, but are you a gentle giant? :D

Martin: I’m a very gentle giant :-) I think the man on the “Gentle Giant” album could be the “Prognissekongen” that Lars thinks of.
Lately I’ve been thinking about that band and the resemblances with our band. We were watching a live concert with

Martin Hornveth

Gentle Giant in John McEntire’s studio and I didn’t know that the members were SO good instrumentalist. It was really cool to see them change instruments all the time and play them all so brilliantly. We have a couple of members doing the same thing and it was truly inspiring to see.
