Do give ISIS another shot. There's a story behind it that I'm too tired to share but Panopticon literally changed my life, and ISIS to this day is one of my absolute favorites.
Same with Cult of Luna, they're not far behind.
Anyhoo, I'm off to bed. Nighty night people.

CoL!!!!! But Isis is also godly. Always liked them, but did take a number of listens before Isis really hit me. That's cool Joel, I do believe mine have been for 25 years now. And to think, the biggest thing they can show from it is us!!

I'll listen to these bands tonight for sure. I need to find some heavier bands to listen to! After the discovery of Opeth and Maudlin of the Well this style of music is growing on me. I even enjoy the growls, and they used to drive me crazy.

Ah Opeth, one of my top 5 bands. f**kin love them so much. motW is pretty awesome as well.
And man if you want depressing music, Eternal Kingdom by Cult of Luna, or anything by CoL. Maybe not the heaviest thing but it is pretty dark and bleak.
Isis does deserve some listens indeed. Also good when in a bad place, but in a more uplifting style instead of a crushing one like CoL

Billy, there's a good chance you'll like Kayo Dot's earlier stuff (assuming you haven't checked it out already).

Also, everythang about the alcohols/party with my parents has seemed to blow over. Nice!
Editum: Hurp durp hyperlinking doesn't seem to be working for me.

Opeth is brilliant. Still Life, My Arms Your Hearse. and Ghost Reveries would probably be my favorite from what I have. Don't know if anyone here would agree but whenever I want something dark, Hammill's "A Louse is not a Home" just floors me. Hammill is probably the darkest writer I've heard yet, in fact most of the time when he's writing an uplifting song, it's about dying. Listening to some of Panopticon now.

For the heavies, might wanna check out Deftones, Machine Head (The Blackening is a decent start), Meshuggah, Periphery.
Not sure how many of those might be too heavy for you...
Guitar related topic: I got a keeley compressor today, please don't ever buy one if your thinking about a compressor. The Diamond Compressor that I own sh*ts all over the KC

Pretty big Kayo Dot fan. I wouldn't say Choirs is a depressing album by any means. Only have Coyote and Choirs though. And Coyote is very dark. Almost to the point where it's not enjoyable anymore. Interesting album though.

I don't really listen to Kayo Dot for enjoyment; on that matter, I have absolutely no idea why I do listen to Kayo Dot. Kinda takes me on a journey/away from regular sh*t for some time more than anything.

Yeah Joel, what a weird band. I honestly don't fully understand them all the way yet. The more I revisit those albums the more I get out of them though. It's deffinitly unlike anything else I've ever heard.

Deftones are good Bogg. Around the Fur is a great album. Tried Meshuggahh and I simply could not get into. There technical proficiency is mind boggling though.

Also, srs question here: Can a hangover last for like (roughly) 48 hours since consumption of alcohol? I still feel like crap.

Wellp, generally your body burns alcohol at .02 per hour. Alcohol affects the liver, kidneys, blood, the whole body. So it would make sense that you'd still feel crappy even though there's no alcohol in your system. The answer of a certified hypochondriac!

Cheers I'm feeling a lot better (I've finally been able to eat a reasonable amount for the first time in the last 2 days) so hopefully after a full night's sleep I'll be feeling better.

Damn man. I have heard stories from people of still "feeling" it for 2 days, but usually only after they were waaaaaaaaaay overboard. I think maybe you just took too much for your body since you never drank before.

@JJ: Yeah, I went massively overboard and esp. since I've never drunk before it seems likely that I was sicker than I should've been.
@Bogg: about 6-7 standard drinks (either straight rum or vodka) within about a 1 hour period. It's probably worth noting that I hadn't eaten for about 6 hours at that stage, and that I haven't been able to eat a full meal until tonight (about 2 days on). I've also only gotten about 4 hours of sleep for the past two nights (damn waking up at 2AM and not being able to sleep again!). I'm guessing since I can actually eat some food now/hopefully sleep better that I'll start to get better by tomorrow. If not, well then i'll probably hit up the dokta.
