Also, to anyone who hasn't checked out Mastodon's album pre-Crack the Skye, do it. Crack the Skye is an awesome album but I'm a bigger fan of their earlier material.

Start with Leviathan I think, then move your way up to Remission. Leviathan gets a ton of praise from the metalheads (for good reason, it's an amazing album) but Remission just SLAYS.

What do you mean they borrow from it? They use like the same riffing structure or something? The only samples I know of are the T-Rex roar at the beginning of Crusher Destroyer and the white noise at the end of Elephant Man.
