Check out Hoyry-Kone. Their singer, Topi Lehtipuu, is operatically trained.
Heard it before, I'm not really a fan. I don't think operratic vocals go good with prog. Classically trained doesn't exactly mean opera singer, it means they have control over their pitch and can sing in many ranges. They have control over their breathe and don't use a glottal attack or shouting to sing.
Banco'sFrancesco Di Giacomo sounds like a classic tenor to my ears. Annlouice Loegdlund from the Diablo Swing Orchestra sounds like a fully fledged diva to my ears

You really should check out Annie Haslam's singing. She doesn't sing in an operatic style for the most part but has a huge range and etches melody really well.
And this is a rendition of the funeral song Going Home:

Can you guys recommend any prog with vocalists who've had vocal training? (maybe that will make it more clearer). I'd also be interested to here some non-american pop with a singer whose had vocal training or popera singers.

Almost any singer will have some level of vocal training or coaching. Some find a niche and go with it, though.
I suspect 95% or more of prog singers have no classical training, and don't rise above early youth training. You can learn by ear, and practice singing along, and this seems to be the case with most popular music based around bles and rock and roll.

James LaBrie.
Wasn't he trained in musical theatre, not classical?
It shows when he sings slow, tuneful songs... He just doesn't have the pipes for powerful moments. In Opera, where singers usually don't rely on microphones, he would be in real trouble... He has good intonation though, very good.

Well Im now just looking for singers in general non-prog or prog that have had training in vocal techniques. They don't have to sound like opera singers. What I mean by vocal training is anyone who has a wide range and control over their voice, or has great production.
Many pop singers are classically trained, Lady Gaga for example is, but she does not sing opera. She uses the classical TECHNIQUES to control her pitches.

For the third time in this thread, why don't you give Annie Haslam a shot? Or have you already heard Renaissance before and are looking for something else? Because wide range, control and great production exactly sums up her strengths as a singer.
