No, Opet (without an 'h') is a part of the temple of Louxor, in Egypt.

The word Opet means "City of the moon".And it was a place in South africa that its population was committing suicide(I'm not sure about that). The word is taken by the book Sunbird of Wilbur Smith. The first leader of the band was David Isberg. So,it's Isberg's idea the addition of 'h' inside the word.

what is an Opeth where dose the name orriginate from, which language is it (not Swedish nor old-norse as far as I know), is it Mikaels own imagination or is it something, a state of behavour, a place, a cult, a name for a pond,

I have no clue and wikipedia don't have an answer i can trust,
