Actually William DuVall is a pretty excellent vocal substitute for Layne, but no one can ever really compare to him in the first place :(

He has a good voice. The new cd had some good material, it's just not the same.

Oh hey Necron, I'm finally getting into Mauldin, pretty amazing band.

Yeah, Black Gives Way to Blue has its moments but overall felt kind of uninspired.  I’m still hopeful they can come up with some new material.

And awesome, which albums?

I do too, but mostly the older alternative/grunge stuff.

Part the Second and some other stuff I've heard off youtube. The first song off Bath is a favorite. So far they've been much more enjoyable than Kayo Dot. I'll get the other two next.

You really need to hear Bath and LYBM in their entirety to really appreciate their beauty.  My Fruit Psychobells is also very good, not quite on the same level as Bath/LYBM but still has some great material on it.

Although I’d suggest that you don’t write off Kayo Dot entirely, they have some incredibly good stuff too.  Although I am a lot more fond of maudlin.
