She'll die when she's sixty. Once she's in her forties and everyone's forgotten about her, there will be a reality show about her and her family or some sh*t. That's my prediction. |

The best thing Kafka ever wrote is that one short bit about the two or three people possibly chasing each other.

Wait...he only cared because "progressive" or "prog" wasn't "acceptable"? What a tool. |

F*ck it, I love Porcupine Tree. I don't care what you think about that either.

Steve didn't like the term "prog" because it was usually associated with the progressive rock bands of the 70s, and he didn't want PT to live in the shadow of another band/bands. Now, "prog" has a much broader meaning, so he's willing to accept the label. |

I like some of their stuff, but if Wilson really cared about being called prog/progressive ONLY because it wasn't acceptable, then I can't say I'm a fan of him as a person.

So what did he want to be called instead, rock? Then along with the prog giants, he's also in the shadow of every rock band who came before him (Elvis, Beatles, etc.) |

It is comments like that that probably got him the King Crimson re-mixing gig. Edited by rushfan4 - January 26 2011 at 15:53 |

I can't speak for the guy, but I certainly don't think it has anything to with the "acceptability" of the term.

He didn't have himself anything against the word and concept of "progressive", the media had. The point was that being labeled "progressive" would have meant suicide for your band. You would get burried alive regardless of your music being good or bad. |

Well I'd be upset too if someone compared me to neo prog , but as long as I've known the term "progressive" it's seemed like a pretty broad term. After all, it covers everything from fusion to avant-garde/RIO to symphonic to psychedelic to some death metal to math rock to Krautrock to...well, you get the point.

No, it was until recently a way to say "awful, dated rock". |

That's Neo Prog, Alex.
Neo Prog sounds much more dated than classic prog. Plus it's mostly awful. |
