Topic: Agalloch vs. Maudlin of the Well Posted: January 22 2011 at 22:02 |
Both of these bands are quite different, but they both share the honor of being absolutely amazing progressive metal bands. Both are highly praised on this site, so I'm curious about the result.

maudlin of the Well gets me hard about 40% faster than Agalloch, so they get my vote.

Gonna have to be Agalloch for me. I loved them from the first instant I heard them.

When motW make anything as face melting-ly awesome as Falling Snow, or as frostbitten and grim as The Mantle, give me a call on 555-WHAMBULANCE.

Ahm, sh*t. Whichever one it is, it's by little enough that I need to think about it a bit.

maudlin is an excellent band, but Agalloch is totally above me. i find their music as a mere expression of all those feelings, emotion and thoughts they superbly express through their songs.
Pieces like In The Shadow Of Our Pale Companion, Bloodbirds, or Black Lake Nidstang trascend music, im sure those guys are here to stay, and in some years, people will know them as pioneers of something we are yet to discover.
So, my vote goes for Agalloch

No Agalloch or atmospheric black metal band or black metal band or even any metal band can beat a group that recorded Part The Second.
