Topic: Godfather I or II? Posted: December 25 2010 at 22:13 |
Which Godfather film do you prefer? The third one is excluded; even though it's not a bad film, it's clearly not in the same league as the first two.

It's okay, Brain. I've watched them for the first time recently.

Thought the first two were great but have to go with 2. Always liked a good backstory and you can't beat De Niro. Not two crazy about 3.

Both are in the same level, but I have a weak spot for part II because the amazing performance of Bob De Niro as the young Godfather.

Let me also remind you all that the book with the same name and author is absolute excellent too and very much a must-read book. It goes very much more into the material than the excellent movie. Both the movie and book is icons in my view. I am shamefully not an owner of the DVDs, but I will correct my mistakes by ordering it now.

The first one because I've seen 19 times, over the second's 18.
Both are masterpieces. My heart goes to the first though.

Well don't be too surprised if you wake up one morning with a horse's severed head in your bed or get shot up at a toll booth.

I think Part II is the finest film ever made, period, followed very closely by the first one.
I actually do like Part III, mainly because of Pacino's towering performance as a man haunted by his past. A flawed masterpiece is probably the best way to describe it.
