As someone once said, "Life is what happens while you're busy making plans."

After playing the Flash version of the Nine Inch Nails song, "Hurt" at ProgDay 2010, Ray and Colin liked it so much, they decided to include it on the new CD.

Good choice lads, I agree, but it's delaying the release date.  Going to take just a bit longer, but well worth the wait, I'm sure.  Shooting for a February or March release date...

NEWS!!!

A Flash fan, George Mizer, posted the only known surviving live footage of Flash performing in 1972 on a TV show called "Superstars of Rock"!

This was a real treat for the band to see, and me, too.  Unfortunately, George hasn't posted it on youtube, so I can't post it directly here.  It's best viewed on the Flash or George Mizer facebook pages (don't know if you have to be 'friends' to see it - let me know) -

It's also available on the Flash fan site, psychosync.info,  but the already poor sound quality is even more muffled and the picture can't be enlarged -

Fun to see this pioneering band in the early days of Prog!

Cheers,
Sherry

Ray tells me he's very close to finishing the new CD.  Of course, he had Rick, the keyboard player, in the studio this week RECORDING new bits (which means more mixing!), so......

I do believe that he's almost done, however.  Thumbs Up

The February issue of Goldmine Mag....nice write-up...

Nice video ... except the organist is missing. Looks like they synched it to the track, as there was no wireless guitar connection in 1972, and Kaye must have already departed when they made this vid. Correct me if I'm wrong on this.
I was in a band in Florida in 1975 covering this tune!

Yep...they were lip-synching, like most TV shows at the time.  I'd love to see one of their live performances like Midnight Special, but no one has come forth with it, and I haven't been able to find any.

Tony Kaye was never a member of the band.  He was a guest artist on the first album, was invited to join but didn't.  Flash toured and recorded thereafter with guitar, bass and drums only.

They've added keyboards for the reunion - a phenomenal player - Rick Daugherty.  Sounds great.

P.S.  If you managed to pull off this song (Children of the Universe), you must have been a pretty good band!
