For God's sake, if you don't accept that The Sweet were a Glam band, you are the one who doesn't know them (I grew with songs like Ballroom Blitz), even they describe themselves as Glam, or do you pretend to know more about them than themselves?

Yes they made a couple of good rock tracks, but even their appearence is of a Glam band

 

 

And no, I don't believe that "Love is like Oxygen" is Prog,. a great rock song but not Prog

So please, before calling other person's opinions ridiculous or accusing them of not knowing what they say, verify what the band believes of themselves.

I really don´t know any reason why some Glam Rock (or Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Pop, etc...) artist wouldn´t record sometimes a kind of Prog Rock album or song.
Example: Elton John, Kiss, Sweet...
 
I believe that "Love Is Like Oxygen" is very related to Prog. But the final decision is on you all.

Later albums of Sweet(like waterworks) are pure prog-pop in the line of ELO.  "Love is like oxygen",however simple it is, is a work of pure crossover prog. Brilliant!

Of  course some Pop, Rock, etc can be Prog (Even Salsa), like:

  • She's a Rainbow: Rolling Stones
  • I Don' Like Mondays: Bob Geldof and The Boomtown Rats
  • Buscando América: Ruben Blades (Latin Fusion by a Salsa Artist)
  • I'd Do Anything for Love: Meat Loaf
But I don't believe "I Don't Like Mondays" (A song  love, only bought the LP for that track) is Prog Related, being that The Sweet are from the 70's and always managed to keep a safe distance from Prog.

The majority of their material is not Glam Rock. Most of their "Glam" stuff was written by Chinn/Chapman...basically the A sides of their major hit singles if the early seventies. Most of the self penned material is not. 

I have always been a fan of the band and have every album.

Of course the photos YOU choose are from their Glam period...where a ,lot of bands dressed up like this. I could show pictures of a naked woman and say " This woman is always naked".  David Bowie just a Glam act also?

I'm not getting into an extensive discusssion with you...frankly it is boring. You crave the last word too much.

Snow Dog...The first phrase in the front page of their site claims they are the epitome of UK Glam Rock.

If I have to choose to whom believe...I choose them, they know who they were.

But at the end, you claim that because I said said they were a Glam Rock band I didn't knew them (Now you at least admit they had a Glam period)...Ergo, they don't know themselves according to you.

And of course you won't get into an extensive discussion, but because it's obvious they were a Glam Rock band, something they proudly admit

Snow Dog is right. They are very much prog in the way that Queen was in the early- to mid-seventies(" Action") and very much prog in the way that ELO and City Boy were in the late 70's(listen to "Tell the Truth"from 1980,a terrific song). Yes,they were glam,but they were also MORE. Slade,THAT was just a glam band,playing brainless rock n'roll tunes. But Sweet? Nah
