There are some of songs which either are my favourite from my records or known from various radios, or not my favourite though, but generally considered as Prog. Merry Christmas and Happy New Prog Year! Edited by Gandalff - December 29 2010 at 15:36 |

Iron Maiden, and they made a lot of these progressive songs.

Interesting.
I´ve found this one on You Tube, it sounds like Prog Punk.

April, that's the song that got me into prog in the first place, I think the self titled album by Deep Purple is 100% prog, and even if I love the later material, I would've loved to see how far Deep Purple could've gone as a prog act.
April is without any doubt one of the best prog rock songs ever written, and it's not even done by a prog band. Every single prog fan should've heard it at least once.

Meh. It's interesting hearing Greed Day using a chord sequence slightly more complex than their usual fair, but it's not exactly complex. I still can't stand the vocals. WTF... Green Day using 7/8? I actually don't believe it. Still, Green Day have zero musicianship. They need a touring guitarist to play the solos. Listen to this solo I mean, Jesus, if they can't play that... they're absolutely pathetic. Also, about the poll... haven't heard loads of these, but the two Queen songs are obvious choices.

A close call. I would call many of these more or less progressive, but I chose five of them:
* Bohemian Rhapsody
* A Day in the Life
* Prophet's Song * Private Investigations * Kashmir |

^I comprehend. Wine and spirits generally are prohibited in your country, aren´t it?

Bohemian Rap-City
It has everything including the modern opera thrown in. It has a melancholy ballad and a soaring lead solo then a multi part harmony orchestrated opera and then a heavy metal section. Prog!

Agreed. That´s the song which never palls on.
(But I disagree with "Rap-City".)

Good suggestions are also here.
I'd also like to nominate Happiness is a warm gun - Beatles Band on the run - Paul McCartney and the Wings Live and let die - Paul McCartney and the Wings Music - John Miles Memories Fade - Tears for Fears (studio version with Mel Collins' sax) Albatros - Karat (german band) Between the lines - Lake (german band) |

None of these are prog in my world. Few of them are good rock/heavy rock songs.
I voted Prophet's Song, which is Queen's best effort. Actually I like it very much ;) |

The Moody Blues not prog? interesting, since their 70s period was quite progressive. Also Queens first 5 albums were really progressive.
