Robert Fripp recently did some shows in New York earlier this month. Soundscapes for free at the World Trade. Now you can take a listen to parts of his performances, as well as some interviews. Take a looksie.

Thanks!  I actually miss true "Frippertronics" (using two Revox reel-to-reel machines) vs. his Soundscapes setup, but any Fripp is better than no Fripp, eh?

An impressive performance occurred at the G3 tour including Fripp, Vai and K.W.Sheppard.....Fripp opened with Frippertronics, and Vai's guitarist Mike Keneally soloed on top of Fripp's loops, emulating Fripp's best fuzz-tone, Les Paul solos of LTIA era King Crimson!

God, I'd love to hear an LP of that!   I met Keneally at a music store & asked him about the gig, he said that no tapes survived because they were not of suitable quality...damn!!

I also miss the magic of decaying tape sounds and the relatively basic guitar effects of Frippertronics. The overpowering power of digital delays, harmonizers and MIDI trickery certainly opens new sonic avenues, but there's something to be said about the inherent limitations of the old way of doing things. Thankfully there's sufficient DGM downloads of both these types of music Smile
