Matt Cameron joyned the ranks of Pearl Jam in 97 after Soundgarden disbanded, he have also playd on Gaddy Lee's solo album, now that Soundgarden is back he shifts between playing for Pearl Jam and SG, he was in SG since 87 (or 86) before that Cornell both sang and playd drums, from 82 - 86 it was Cornell, Hiro Yomomoto and Kim Thayll, then in 86 Cornell focused on just vocals and guitar and Matt joined on drums, (just moved up from his native California),

I'd almost go and say that Backspacer is my favourite PJ album, it really caught me by surprise.
Backspacer wasn't very good, in my opinion.
I thought it was rather subpar as well.
Black Gives Way to Blue wasn't phenomenal either, but it certainly wasn't bad, and it was far better than Backspacer.
I love Black Gives Way to Blue, half star shy of the full praise. And I see no weak tracks on Backspacer either, but Ten might be a worthy opponent to it. And I haven't heard about a half of their output properly.

I enjoyed PJ from Ten to Yield. hell, they were my fave band back on the days.
