I discovered their sounds with their wonderful live album ('74) and I saw him with BJH in 1975.

R.I.P. Wooly. Maybe it will be another musician's death that will prompt me to listen to his music finally...

Went to Woody's funeral on Wednesday along with my brother who had travelled up from Norfolk. We went in my car and just made it with minutes to spare.
Beautiful setting at St Chad's in Uppermill,all who mattered were there,we were there because since !969 we have followed the Barclays their music was so meaningful,at times inspiring,at times quite the opposite,at the heart of it all was Wooly,never can his influence in BJH be undermined,to write music and lyrics like he did can only come from what he experienced,thus the differing types of songs he wrote,sad,uplifting,apocalyptic and experiential,but always to that lovely backing music.
T'is a sad days passing,God knows why he decided to end it all,the pain was too much I guess,but on Wednesday in a quiet churchyard we honoured him,no photographs,no converstaion,just thoughts of when times were better for us all,and for Wooly,good times they were,good music in the 60's/70's,but it couldn't last,thank God for John reforming with JLBJH,more good music,more good shows,more Wooly.
Peace and love now Wooly,thanks for the wonderful times,glad we went to the funeral service,it seemed like the right thing to do,God Bless.

Last night I logged in after quite some time and I looked at the wrong place for this thread -

Perhaps I never will be...
I was so honoured to get to know him personally in 2009,
after a JLBJH-gig in Berlin,
we talked some and I gifted him several CDs.
Some weeks later, after another show in Karlsruhe,
we talked for the 2nd and last time.
He had listened to my CDs in the meantime and I was such a happy kid
he really praised my singing !
When I attended my first JLBJH-concert "without him" in Colmar last year,
I cried my heart out during the whole of
"Suicide ?"/"Mockingbird"/"The Poet/After the Day".
Feel a bit better since then.

I'll never forget him.
His humour and warmth made me feel a brother.

Thanks for the music

A lifelong BJH-fan who knows... it was mainly because of him that I ever became one.
