Most people open gifts the morning of the 25th. There's quite a range of traditions here, though, every family does things a little differently. Because my wife's family is Italian they have "Feast of the Seven Fishes" on Christmas Eve; her mother has a turkey dinner on Christmas Day.

Indeed, it varies from family to family. A good number of my friends' families open gifts the night of the 24th.

See, but that's a horribly ineffective method of killing shadows. I just use my special anti-shadow 12ga. slugs.
