Black Sabbath - they recorded many of great albums (both Ozzy and Dio eras),and are in fact one of cornerstone of all hard rock, heavy metal and in part prog rock. Rush had just some really good albums.

I thought Black Sabbath were a very good progressive band. The last 4
Ozzy era albums are what I think of as hard core prog rock / metal. Some
tracks succeded less than others but they tried different things, well
done.
Rush are imagination and virtuosity. Both bands have great atmospheres
on their albums. Getting the best albums by both outfits will not hurt
your collection.
