FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

TOTAL B.S. DEBUTS BREAKTHROUGH ALBUM, “2 THE CORE

Total B.S. breaks the Progressive Rock mold with adventurous genre defying music

Los Angeles, Ca USA - November 2010 - Riddle: What do you get when you marry Classic Rock, 70’s Soul, Funk & Disco, 80’s Metal, 90’s Angst… a dash of New Millennium Alternative… throw in some show tunes sensibility… add a choir and a little dose of Latin Jazz?  Confused  I’ll tell you what you get!

You get Total B.S.… and they’re packing a wallop of a punch with their maiden release, “2 the Core.”  Approve

Hard to categorize, but inescapably impressive… like them or not… Total B.S. has managed to declassify themselves.   Total B.S. brings their invigorating sound, delivering an auditory experience so refreshingly distinct, it inadvertently delivers a punishing spank to the generic climate that tends to populate most genres.  Shocked

For lack of a better category, we’ll call it Progressive Rock… but there will be naysayers.  In the world of Progressive Rock, there have been countless bands that have continued the tradition of carrying the ‘Prog Torch’ of the heroes of yesteryear.  Total B.S. forgoes the torch and lights their own fire, forging uncharted territory where musical genres cease to exist and all of humanity lives in blissful oneness… kind of like in John Lennon’s, “Imagine.”  Yes it is a fantasy but they do it with such absolute credibility and funk-d’fied finesse, it’s bound to make even the haughtiest of Progressive Rock aficionados take notice… scratching their heads in bewilderment asking the question… “IS this Prog?... and… why is my booty shaking?”  Tongue

Back in August of 2003 when Blair Gray unknowingly answered a somewhat generic ad placed by Sara Rockoff in the local ‘Recycler’… chances are, neither of them could have projected the genre defying music they would spawn.

“Total B.S… what does it mean?”… The public will make the most obvious of assumptions LOL... but upon closer inspection as one discovers more about this unique musical hybrid of sorts… and upon even further investigation, as one familiarizes oneself with the deep and layered analysis of the topics covered in these rich and captivating compositions … the controversial monikers’ obvious and circumstantial meanings takes on a multitude of dimensions.

Total B.S. ability to tap into the universal is what set’s this record apart.  “2 the Core” their debut album is absolutely groundbreaking and sure to make its mark in the annals of musical history.

powerful entertaining songs by all means, coupled with expressive vocals. Thumbs Up Congrats, Sara. I like it!
jazz, funk, fusion, ska, metal - hard to categorize indeed concerning this mélange of styles

Will ring the bells, however, to be honest, I'm not sure if this stuff will be evaluated with a clear vote by any team.

Here is the MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/totalbsrocks

Good music, sounds like a music that I grew up with - late 90s Nu-Metal. Lots of groovy hooks, great riffs, and rapping/soul vocals. There are some many other influences too, and certain progressive merits (I recommend the tracks "Following Forward" or "Lights On" as good examples), like synth or violin solos, a richer sound and some song development, so maybe the genre teams could find the material PA worthy. I'll ask the Heavy Prog team for an evaluation. The most important thing would be that the teams don't stop after the first track when they evaluate; that one is pure Nu-Metal, the rest is much more relevant.

Thanks for your support!!

Yeah... it's definitely pushing the boundaries...  but most of the album is surely Progressive... if not Fusion and certainly Eclectic.

If I can suggest a few as well... What if Feels Like, For Another Day, Total B.S., Following Forward, Lights On

Speedball kickin', good stuffs. Clap

Anyway, you're a tough case to classify, but IMHO you can be fit for Tech / Extreme Prog Metal?
(As far as I know, Hev Team cannot be caught such a style I imagine. Tongue )

You can be added in Progarchives only with the approval of a subgenre specialist team.
Please do not hurry, let us take time. Wink

Hi Sara,

I'm not sure what exactly you did not understand from my post. I've asked the Heavy Prog Team to evaluate the band for inclusion on PA. If they vote YES, then the band is going to be added. It takes a bit of time though, most teams have a lot of suggestions to evaluate. Also, like I replied in your other thread, the Prog Music Lounge (including Prog News or Review Our Music) are dedicated to bands that are already on PA, so if you post there your threads will be moved to "Get The Word Out" or "General Music Discussions".

I understand HR... I didn't realize we could actually get rejected.

Well... Easy Livin (Bob Mcbeath) sent me a PM and recommended that I post in "Suggest New Bands" forum... Is that necessary at this point?  I'm under the impression our evaluation is in motion so it seems it would be redundant.

Thanks so much for all your help.  I'll try not to be a pest!  Embarrassed

Yeah, bands are added to the PA database following a team vote, which can be Yes or No. I didn't notice this thread isn't it the "Suggest New Bands" sub-section, so I already asked the Heavy Prog Team for the evaluation. No need to open a new thread now Wink

Wow, you named your band after my first two initials?
Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Thanks for the comment... Hope we make the cut here... Shocked  seems like a tough crowd... hehe

We've considered ourselves to be a Progressive Rock band since we started this thing... but the response has been quite controversial... funny... maybe it's my "black girl" voice?  Not sure...

Oh well... nothing is for everyone I suppose.

We're finding our fans... one by one...

We have so many cookbooks here we could do a different one for every meal for several years.  Give me a cuisine and I shall grant you a great recipe.  Check out the Prog Chefs Unite thread.  It's fun if you like to cook.  Hell, probably fun if you don't.
