Woot! On IMDB, the discussion board for the following Alien prequel (to be released in about a year) has 19 pages of various threads!!! Now that's what I call anticipation...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1446714/board/

This one's funny, you can read what the Strause bros. wanted to do if they got asked to direct, and what the fans thought of how they saw the prequel: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1446714/board/nest/174042079?p=1 LOL

I would tolerate a gay rape scene in the prequel over the strause brothers getting another chance to rape the aliens again.

"It was going to be a whole tribe of predators going against this creature that we called "King Alien." It's this huge giant winged alien thing."

Hm... Would it have been as darkly lit and murky as AvPR was?...
Actually, that's not too bad an idea! Imagine if the planet was full of giant winged King Aliens! Maybe this would've gotten Cameron back! Maybe the hero in that one could RIDE THE KING ALIEN! And then he could attack the humans INVADING THAT PLANET, trying to rescue the blue space jockeys from certain death! And could fall in love on Pandora, with a furry!...

/sarcasm

Also, apparently (?) a script has leaked but it's not sure if it's the actual script. Another guy mentions "After seeing the new concept art [...]". Where? EDIT: I found the script, it's linked to and discussed here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1446714/board/nest/155630554?p=1 And here is an overwiew of it: http://www.coronacomingattractions.com/news/alien-harvest-script-out-there-really-alien-prequel-movie-well-see

On another thread I found this link to an early O'Bannon/Shusett script of Alien, at that time called "Starbeast": http://www.dailyscript.com/scripts/alien_early.html

^ that's too bad, I'd think at least the first one would be among the few movies you might thoroughly enjoy .. if only for a young Sigourney Weaver in her underwear

Caught Lennon Naked, yet another attempt to portray John and Yoko "as they really were", which invariably means it's a bunch of nonsense.  The cast overacts, the script glib, sensationalistic and gives us little new insight.

The one to see is Two of Us, a VH1 film from 2000 with Aidan Quinn and Jared Harris as Paul and John.  It's a postulation around one day McCartney visited Lennon at his NY apartment in 1976 after several years apart.  Great portrayals and much more real and down to earth than other post-Beatles movies.

The Forbidden Kingdom

Fun and well done throwback to classic kungfu flicks pairing Jet Li and Jackie Chan as two warriors who teach a young American about martial arts - and how to return to his time - in ancient China.

Restrepo

Excellent document of US soldiers in a remote area of Afghanistan and their efforts to fight Taliban and win-over locals.  The parallels to Southeast Asia are striking and though we see things through the eyes of the troops, the army's futile efforts to sway the Afghan mountain peoples only underscores the absurdity of this war.  A film both anti-war and pro-soldier.  Recommended.

AntiTrust

Nonsensical thriller about a computer whizkid and the ambitious but treacherous head of a software company that hires him.  Contrived, predictable and though from 2001, looks like it was made in 1985.  Somewhere between The Firm and Wargames but not as good as either.

I'm not that much of a comedy fan but I enjoyed The Ref with Dennis Leary, Kevin Spacey and Judy Davis. The opening scene with the marriage councelor was very funny.
I am an action junkie and for some reason I keep going back to The Long Kiss Goodnight.
I'm sure it's because of Samuel L. Jackson who, in my book, can do no wrong on screen.
Well, except for The Spirit.

Clash Of The Titans. Not as bad as I thought it would be. Perseus with shaved head though? Quite entertaining.

I watched Pineapple Express last night and found it to be so-so.
But I thought Danny McBride was very funny and stole every scene he was in.

It's not what you say but how you say it and who you say it to.  Wink

Anyway - it's a pregnant goldfish.

The Swiss surrealist artist HR Giger, who was the set designer on Ridley Scott's Alien (1979), including being responsible for the phallic extra terrestrials, is also set to take part in what might be a pair of prequels, if a comment by the painter's wife Carmen Scheifele, reported in the Guardian, is to be believed. The aliens in the film were based on a series of preexisting paintings by Giger. No official details of the production schedule have been announced.

Yikes!

Yikes!
They should give Chris Foss the non-alien designs to do in compensation for screwing him over on the original Alien film - the Nostromo and the derelict alien spacecraft weren't his actual preliminary designs, but they were damn close.

I knew about this Alien prequell a while ago but forgot to mention it. Or didn't bother. We get to see what happened to the giant alien in the ship  where the warning signal came from.
