I think at least "post-metal" and "experimental metal" should be separate

If that happened, would it make sense to take the more avant bands from tech/extreme and combine them with experimental metal and just have an avant metal genre?

I think avant metal should be another genre, outside of experimental, post, and prog-metal

and there are "avant-metal" bands under RIO/Avant-prog right now, which could get moved to the new avant metal genre

Definitely.  SGM/Bungle/Choirs and such don't totally fit in with the rest of RIO/Avant.

and, while we're undermining the entire genre structure on PA, we should change the name of "eclectic prog" to either "I wish I was King Crimson prog" or maybe "eccentric prog" and then put all the artists that vary release by release genre-wise (e.g. Zappa) into eclectic prog

You do know how many "Zappa for eclectic" arguments there have been, right? Tongue

it wouldn't work with the current "eclectic prog" category, but that category currently doesn't even include many eclectic bands; it's mostly "We have prominent saxophone playing but aren't jazz"

I hope this album is a big grower. Ermm  After this listen, I've really enjoyed about 1/3 of it, thought another 1/3 was OK and didn't really like the other 1/3.
