This thread is a little late isn't it?

RIP anyway.I've never understood the popular appeal of Mandelbrot as compared to other mathematicians, but the man was a great mind and deserved all the respect he got.

In remembrance, here's his famous set:

Cool stuff.  I used to have this Windows program that would generate them based on the music you were playing.  I also have a Moody Blues VHS video where their music is set to fractals.

Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...
