 Topic: New feature: Quick Rating

I love this quick rating feature not because of its main purpose, but because it lets me see what I've already reviewed and what I haven't- all at a glance.

I dont bother just rating now as it takes ages to have to find your review and then edit it. Reviews are the only things worth posting IMHO. I dont take a scrap of notice of the ratings.

and I think that in this timezone, I rated it at 9:05 EST.
But this isn't the main problem for me, what would really get me into "quick reviewing", is to be able to easily rate and then review. Not through a difficult way of clicking to my review panel and editing existing rating.
And to have as much ratings as possible is purpose of this site, because even I like reviews and they're useful, ratings only forms majority of PA. It's better to quickly rate album than wait few days/weeks with review, because meanwhile the album is without ratings.

Are you sure about this? M@x said he will make it possible for the review to appear on the homepage even if it was posted after the rating, and someone reported that it works.

Well people, I've just rated album with intention to write review in future (50 minutes later), just to try this out. Even such rating is very interesting and useful feature, there are big problems with it:
1)If you rate first and after day or two write a review, it won't appear on main page. 2)You have to go "http://www.progarchives.com/ReviewerPage.asp" in order to write this review. It would be much better if you somehow implemented feature that you would be able to write to:
a)rate an album
b)write a review in a normal way (on album page)
c)and this review's submit would work. You know what I mean by c) ... you can't rate album first and then review it. You have to open your review admin panel. It would be much better (meaning - user friendly) to be able to.

I think a good feature would be to create a confirmation dialog box whenever you click one of the quick rating stars. That way you don't accidentally rate something you've never listened to, etc.

What I was supposing since a long time ago, the PA forum is using all the resources of the site (discography) and the performances of site is deterring.

I would like the feature mor eif it didn't significantly slow down the loading time of artist pages. Try opening the page of someone who has fifty or more albums. It takes forever (almost).

Of course there is a point to rating, which is why I also rate. I wouldn't rate if there wasn't any point to it. And like Dean says, my rating has the same weight as any other newbie's.

For "rating only" everyone is the same, whether you are a collab or not the weighting is "1"
Alex meant "write a review", that increases the weighting for non-collabs to "10"
In light of this, collab weighting is only "2" since their "rating+reviews" equates to "20" and I think that 2:1 ratio is fairer than it has been for a long time.
However, personally I think the ratios of 10:1 and 20:1 are too high as the ratios of ratings to reviews is probably closer to 3:1 for most albums, but we are a review site, not a rating site.
